Title: New hammer forged barrel installed .22 marauder syn stock
Post by: Reb2973 on March 06, 2016, 10:59:38 AM
I just installed my hammer forged barrel from marmot militia this morning. All I can say is wow what a difference! Thanks Jim for a perfect drop in upgrade. I started this morning win the air arms Diablo field  heavy 18 grain with 5.52. I'm shooting at 40 yards and very impressed. I could not come nowhere near this grouping with stock barrel. I'll attach pic of 10 shot group at 40 yards and my 30 shot string. I'm new to tuning so if you see anything wrong with my string feel free to point me in the right direction. I'm averaging 805 fps , 30 shots from 3000 psi down to 2000 psi going off the stock gauge.

Not sure I'd I should try to crank it up more or leave it alone. I'll be plinking and squirrel shooting.

At that power level, you should be able to squeeze 40 shots out of a 3000psi fill.

My MMHF barrel likes them a little hotter, around 880fps, but I would still have a difficult time making that group - great shooting! If it's shooting that well, I probably wouldn't touch the tuning settings at all.

Congratulations that hf barrel made a big difference with mine also like night and day. No more poi change and  accurate and sub moa out to 100 yards which is all I have tested. Right now set at my guns max of 853fps. For about two clips. Going to order a heavier spring to help my gen2 valve in my gen1 mrod hit at least 880fps which is my goal for this gun. 75 yards gun for light stuff or head shots on GS.

Yes I couldn't be happier right now. I'll be shooting all day today. I'm just going to leave the settings alone for now and have fun.

Love mine ... tho DO FOLLOW Jims suggested Oil Lube on pellets or it will lead foul very quickly.

Yeah I'm keeping them lubed. Also Jim said this in an email. "The chokes have become longer and looser than on the original barrels.  I found this makes them more accurate and less subject to fouling."

I just got the eagle vision scope mount installed. Working good with phone. But will get a regular camera.

While I'm waiting for the .25 HFB, should I be lubing pellets in my stock Mrod bbl?

Is Jim making .25 barrels now? And I wouldn't worry bout lubing until you get the other barrel.
