Couple of well placed shots! I feel less than worthy now because I've had groundhogs that I've shot with a .25 & .30 cal. PCP that did not drop as fast. I need more practice.

Caliber means nothing, shot placement means everything, enough power is essential.

Talk about doing more, with less. But brother Ed has killed mature raccons that were bigger, and probably tougher, than those small pigs with guns at that power level. Still impressive though, the biggest animal I've killed with an air rifle is a armadillo- with a breakbarrel laying down almost double the power. Great shot placement. Kinda makes me want a G2 whisper, not gonna lie, lol.

Raccoon size pigs, nothing special. He did very well shooting a springer off hand though. I gotta give him that, but he hunts for a living. He knew to go for the smaller ones and shoot them in the brain. He did everything well and limited himself to 25 yards which is wise. I wonder if everyone who watched this video will do the same.

A lot of his kills are with a .177 too.

As brother Manny said shot placement means everything, enough power is essential. They were a couple well placed shots offhand but was kinda surprised that he didn't have a shooting rest of some sorts. Would love to go hog pesting myself but will have to settle for hogs like this hehe. She was taken awhile back with my B27.177 at 25yrds and hit the scale at 30lbs. G-hogs are tough critters but with good shot placement will do the same, drop on the spot. My Crosman M417 pumper dropped this G-hog outside his den at 15yrds. Ed

Ed that has to be the best looking M417 that I have ever seen! Do remember what pellet you used on the ground hog with it? My stock M417 would be lucky to hit 600 fps with any of the crosman pellets. I never thought it would be good for anything other than HOSPs. Impressive work as always.

Accuracy and penetration kill, not all out speed. I'd go after small woodchucks all day long with a stock pumper at the right yardage. With a pellet I have tested for penetration. Wouldn't hesitate in the least.
Ed shows us this time and time again, as do I to a lesser extent. knowledge of anatomy is seriously important. Right up there with accuracy.

Tom I try to follow all your posts. Those Daisys spoil me as this last 880 hit over 730 out of box with 15 pumps. My Crosman 2100 and M417 lack way behind those so it's nice to see a use for it besides the cool looks.

Crosmans out of the box are indeed weaker than an out of the box 880 or 901.
I know Ed will answer... but if my memory serves me correctly, his M417 is stock other than his great camo job. Shot placement, distance, penetration.

My last 901 was 705 at 10 pumps out of the box. Now it is 784 at 12 pumps after a few tweeks.

Crosman pointed seem to one of the best penetrators. I usually do your flat top piston mod but haven't touched a valve or really sure how to do your other mods yet. Might leave this last one stock but would love to add one of your .22 dirty Daisy hunters to my collection someday. Lol it is amazing what you guys do with these guns. Love the threads.
