Anyone tried buttoning their hammer? What was the result like? I'm looking to narrow down the fps spread so I thought this might be one thing to do.

I've been doing just that for some time to to the strikers in most of my Crosman 22xx based guns. The biggest gain in that platform is much smoother cocking.

Can you guys illustrate or explain the "button" ? I know that sound silly but what mod is this ?
Thanks,

It's a techniques generally used in springer pistons where small Teflon buttons are inserted in piston skirt to reduce friction:

The button provides a much reduced contact area and much slicker material than your average steel hammer/piston.
I was wondering if using similar buttons at the front and rear of a PCP hammer would provide us reduced friction and thus smaller fps spread. Typically the piston is somewhat loose in the bore and when it's caught by the sear the hammer spring pushes it and cants it in horizontal axis. With buttons the hammer could be fine tuned to the bore so it would have less cant and less friction.
