Ok today I have decided I'm sending my gamo back to
Wally World and going to purchase a better quality air rifle. I shot it for a bit today and the best group I could shoot at 25 yards was the size of a baseball. Still utilizing the artilery hold on a sandbag. I'm not looking to spend a grand. I would like to get a bare gun 300-400 range break down style rifle. Is this possible to do and have an accurate gun? I have an older crosman breakdown I sighted in today and it shot cloverleaf groups at 25 yards: This assured me I was doing something halfway right. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys and gals. Thanks and have a good evening

Best deal going right now is the HW95 from http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/ (http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/) for 299.00. This was also know as a Beeman R9
Also a Walther Terrus for around 189.00 -250.00 Airgun Depot, Pyramyd Air and Amazon
RWS M34 for 200-250 Grab-a-gun
Seen an Umarex 460 magnum (underlever)for around 341.00 http://grabagun.com/umarex-usa-460-magnum-hdwd-22-pellet.html (http://grabagun.com/umarex-usa-460-magnum-hdwd-22-pellet.html)
All German made rifles.
Just to name a few in or under that price range.
I would stick with German made guns in that price range.

When I'm spending other people's money, I always like to suggest the Hammerli 850. It's CO2, not a break barrel. But it is well known for accuracy, and decent enough power. Has an 8 round clip, and I'd buy two or four extras just so I could load up 30 or 40 shots at a time. I think it gets about 200 shots per 88g cylinder. Oh, and it comes with the highly regarded Walther barrel.
With a half decent scope, the extra magazines, and a half dozen co2's, should be just inside your price rage with a little investigative shopping.

Add $50 and you have this.
Not a break barrel but a side lever.

Or get it at Amazon for 284.00

Personally I would go with the 460 if I wanted a magnum German springer.

I been online looking at guns to much this past week. I seen a deal on this one somewhere.

I own a rws 34 and 3 rws 48s. Two HW 95s. The Hw is a great deal for the price. Dont think you would go wrong with that choice.

Check the classifieds here. You just might find something nice at a discounted price in your range. Besides if you do decide to resell it you will not lose as much money. :)

It sounds like a scam.
They have never been anywhere near $800

yeah, I might have added wrong. I've seen them new from about $250 to $275. The magazines might be a little more expensive than I think, but they shouldn't cost more than five or ten bucks for what amount of material is in them.
I would definitely buy one if I had more time to shoot it.

Umm, it's Amazon.. No scam. You won't see list price normally because nobody sells them for full list price.
I believe the Umarex boxed RWS 48 has less warranty. Same gun though.

OK, you probably know better than I do.
Then it's a great deal indeed.

It's a great time to be getting into airguns. Lots of German made air rifles under 350.00. Some that where well over 450.00 not to long ago.
-
I'd hate to spend four hundred and fifty bucks for a shiny gun with a bent barrel.

I think there is a joke here I'm missing. What shinny gun with a bent barrel would that be?

I'm gonna add a +1 for the HW95 at Airguns of Arizona....get one before they go back to over $400, they're a definite steal at $299.95.

Weihrauch HW 50 S is nice:

So is the Cometa Fenix 400 Premier:

The umarex 460 mag, is that the same guns as the RWS 460? They look identical. As of now this is the gun I am contemplating.
-
Same gun. Umarex is the stateside distributor for Diana/RWS. They tend to get a bad rap as far as warranty backing by many here and other sites....but there likely be as many that have good service reports?
I had one such "semi-good" experience when I got my 460. The cocking lug pin broke within the first 100 firings. Made the phone call to Umarex, they sent me a paid shipping label and I had the gun fixed and back in little over a week.
My only complaint,,, in my speaking with the service rep, I made it clear that the gun "detonated" upon the pin breakage and I wondered if there may be internal damage? The rep assured me it would be checked out. Upon getting the gun back and re-shooting it seemed to be not as powerful and more erratic accuracy.........the pin got replaced but the breech seal was also damaged and NOT replaced....likely never "checked out". I did the remaining repairs myself and the gun now shoots quite accurate out to the 50yds or so that I've tested it to.
-
Do you shoot the gun with a scope? I really want a gun that a scope is going to work with. The one Ive been shooting the past couple weeks Ive tried 3 scopes on and not a thing I can do to get that gun to shoot groups comparable to the iron sights.
-
I have to have scopes on everything I shoot, the 460 has a BSA Essential 3-12 with the RWS lock-down mount. Optics are decent for the price, not crystal clear at 12x, but that comes with a less than $100 scope. Definitely go with a one-piece mount.

Nice to see that Cometa in the mix. Most people have no ideal how nice they really are. They seem to be marketed/imported by a branch off of AirForce Airguns now too.

HW95 from AOA $300 free shipping. Open sights deadly accurate not hard to self tune. Lots of info on the internet .177 or .22 the .177 is flat shooting and deadly accurate. I own two in .20 and one in .177
Not pellet fussy or hold sensitive. Open sights are great!!!
Best of Luck Brother Man

HW95 from AOA $300 free shipping.
Just got mine in .22 a couple weeks ago and unfortunately, it's the one Weihrauch from AoA that has a shipping charge...mine was $30, but the rifle is still a steal at $299.95 + the $30 for shipping. Mine is seriously accurate with open sights and even better with a scope.
-
id go with hw95
-
Consider something tuned from flyingdragon?
Also might want to budget for a scope
-
Or you can always go for a Xisico XS46U Underlever - if on a budget and a very accurate one. You find it here : https://www.pyramydair.com/product/browning-leverage-air-rifle?m=2456 (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/browning-leverage-air-rifle?m=2456)
