Title: Weihrauch HW77K
Post by: London177 on March 23, 2011, 06:17:49 PM
Hello all,
Are there any owners of a Weihrauch HW77K on here?
I have the chance to get a really nice one in .22 cal' for around £90 (US$140) from an acquaintance.
It is around 25 years old and in good external condition. Internally it is tuned and smoothed with a Macari piston seal.
I have not shot with one before.
Are the 77's a good gun? I'd use it for plinking and target shooting.
regards,
Alan

for 140$!? :o yes yes and YYEESS!  8) get that gun! i've got a HW97k .20 and its awesome , still cant believe what a great gun "Helga" is. the HW77k is basicly the same gun but with open sites and a differnt stock. If that gun was around here for that much it would be all out brawl...lol...cheers Bart

I say absolutely, even if it was twice the price. In .22 that is got to be the smoothest springer available (besides the TX in .22) and it is a great dual purpose gun. I miss my .177...

I've never had a 77 but I've had a 97k in .22cal, isan't the 77 like a fixed barrel HW50 or the R9? either way their nice guns as all HW's are it sounds like you got a good deal on the one you have congrats!

i could be wrong, but i thought the HW97k is a "updated" HW77. Fixed barrel underlever. shooting at 750 fps in .22. Im pretty sure its 'same same"....if you ever see ANY HW for $140... :o :o buy it now lol...bart

Alan I have recently aquired one and it's got signature HW quality.Excellent barrel and easy to shoot. I doubt you'd be dissapointed especially at that price. Just remember there is no anti-beartrap so as a precautionary insurance policy hang onto the cocking lever while loading. You'll need those digits for important stuff.

Alan when you get it be aware that early HW77s had 25mm pistons (according to Chambers gunmakers in Alness ,Scotland this was up to Serial No. 1301036 ;   http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24221&cat=Weihrauch+HW77+Early (http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24221&cat=Weihrauch+HW77+Early)  ) later ones had 26mm pistons, I used to have a very early [and smooth shooting] 25mm version. Also anti bear-trap mech or not; always hold onto a springer`s lever/barrel ,mechanical safeties can (and do) fail!!! ;)

Take care

Kenny ;D

Hello all,
I have now decided to buy the '77 :)
Collection is over the weekend.
I'll look at the serial number Kenny and see what's what.
It has a set of good quality iron sights so I might leave it at that and not bother fitting a scope.
Thanks for the bear-trap advice. I own a Mike Melick Bam 40 so I have some experience with loading an under-lever.
In my work I've seen plenty of severed digits..... :'(
I shall post a photo of it once I have collected it.
All the best,
Alan

My 77 is in .22 and it is late version ie. 26mm piston seal. Brand new. I am getting an Ave. 640 fps wondering if this is good speed.

How heavy are the pellets your shooting out of it ? I'm getting ready to buy a new HW77k in .22cal here this week, my HW97 in .22cal aved 700fps out of the box with 14.3gr CPHP's, if its new give it some breakin time and rechrony it, but some gun's just shoot slow and need a good tune kit to up the velocity. It may have a tight piston seal and just needs to be shot!  :P
