I just got a BSA scorpion in 22 and it is a small light handy rifle. had to get used to inserting the mag. bolt seemed a little stiff wish it was a lever instead. Bought the rifle being guys here were getting good groups at 100 yds and I just target shoot anyway. we got a brutal cold front come in but one day the wind was only maybe 5 mph it was 6 degrees so I set up at 55 yds used CPHP to site in and got a 8 in a ragged hole with 2 just outside. switched to JSB 15.8 did good but not as good as CPHP went to CUM did good not the best then I went to JSB 18.3 grain and it put ten into a 3/4 inch hole.
I have others I will try but hands froze up lol. I got the rifle for 539 from PA and after getting other PCP's I think it is the best value and most accurate rifle and it has a regulated valve. trigger was excellent did not bother to adjust

BSA is hard to beat for the money. Their hammer forged barrels are fairly notorious for accuracy. My BSA R-10 is one of the most accurate out of the box guns I've ever owned. Congrats and enjoy in good health.

If accuracy is the main point BSAs are probably the best value for the money. Many people prefer power over accuracy though.
-
Definately an accurate rifle, which model did you get? mine is the unregulated SE. My rifle likes the AA 16 gr.

I have the 22 scorpion SE also and you have a regulated valve in yours. so far mine likes the JSB 18.3 the best and CPHP second . I have kodiaks and H&N heavies to try

You are right but I am not into killing no more. to me power without accuracy is pointless but I guess it is good enough for hunting. I have noticed the higher priced Scorpion 1200 has a lot more power and the name comes from 1200FPS in 177

Nope, no regulator in mine, I wish. I believe you are thinking about the Scorpion 1200 SE.

R10 and Goldstar SE are the only regulated BSAs. They advertise self regulating valves (most PCPs have them) which may be the source of confusion. SE1200 has longer barrel and air cylinder, it would make for a great .25 gun for 100M comps - although you can get really good results with normal length Scorpion as well if you up the power a bit.

rick eustler tested the 1200 scorpion and said it has a regulated valve and his chrono testing seemed to confirm it. do not know what you mean when you say most PCP's have regulated valve. also my scorpion in 22 goes in the 800's fps which is ok with me but I am curios how would you up or lower the power? I might want to lower it sometime

I see you are in Canada. do you have the throttled down version being with the idiotic PAL license it cant be over 500 fps

Self regulating valve means that you'll have a power curve where power drops down at high pressure region. Read some of rsterne's writings on the subject if you want full understanding on the subject. SE1200 should not be regulated but Huub sells regulators specifically for that gun.
Upping the power means taking the knock off restrictor out and enlarging the transfer port and air path with more hammer strike and dwell. To reduce it you use smaller TP and reduce the hammer spring tension and/or use a lighter hammer and softer/shorter hammer spring.

Ok I thought it might have been as easy as another English made rifle the 2 air arms I had where a small screw on the side of the receiver raised the power up or down as easy as the volume knob on a radio. you guys are to tech for me lol I get a headache reading rsternes posts. amazing how much know how you guys have. how does your 25 bsa bench gun shoot at 100 yds

I have my PAL so no problems there, mine is around 870 with 14.3's and 850with AA 16's.

glad you have the normal rifle. that is a little higher FPS then they advertise. that is the most I would want anyway being they consume air. what is the furthest yds you have shot at?
-
I am happy with those speeds for now , may adjust when I get a regulator but as accurate as it is now I may just leave it at that speed.
The furthest I have shot is 100 yards, I only got to try once at a hundred before winter set in but was able to pull off a 5 out of 5 under 1 moa and 4 of 5 were close to 1/2 moa, that was with the AA 16's.

Not bad, unsorted pellets on first outing after conversion to .25:

that is great shooting. did you ever try the 177 SE at 100? like to see that. it goes fast enough. without any wind should do well

November is pretty much when I called it quits for outdoor shooting, did a bit of short range stuff but moved indoors where it is warm.

Thereabouts, we had our last competitions in october. It's not so much the cold but the daylight time gets short and it's hard to find time for shooting without NV gear :)
