Title: Had a little fun down by the rive this week end!
Post by: Mark 611 on March 22, 2011, 10:54:14 PM
My Brother and I RBShoots decided to take out a few of our rifles for a stroll, I took out my freshly tuned HW80 in .22cal and my freshly tuned Webley Tommy with the .22cal LW barrel on it and my bro took his M-Rod and we had a blast. I must say the HW80 is quiet the shooter I was taking birds at 60+ yds off hand with this rifle effortlessly, the Vortek kit and the barrel chop have made this rifle a very easy handling and smooth shooting and a very accurate air rifle! I was making shots with this rifle at 90yds on small rocks and other small pieces of trash that the river has washed up with the 80 and with less mildots than other AG's I have that shoot in the same power range as this one, it seems to me the VT kit spring seems to carry the pellet energy better down range than some of the other spring I've been using. For example my stock 460mag shoots 850fps it takes 5 dots to get the shot out there the 80 shoots 825fps it was only taking 3 dots to get there with the same weight pellet, I shoot in the same spots all the time when I go there so I know the distances I'm shooting and no these were not off hand I'm not that good but I was shooting from a sitting position on the ground like I always do. I've been experimenting with some of Toms other springs as well and my Tommy has one in it and its is one smooth shooter as well, the LW barrel slow's it down some due to the choke that is in it but it still aves 775fps with CPHP's those were what I was shooting out of both rifles that day and they were doing rather well for out of the tin pellets, so far I'm having great success with the Vortek products and I'm very impressed with the power increases and over all shot cycle of the rifles I've tuned with Tom kits. :P

It's almost unbelievable to be able to accurately shoot a springer at that distance isn't it? , it ain't just the gun ;)

Beauties you have there and i know it's a nono on here but i REALLY like that webley.  ;D J

 Barts gonna ban me :'(

What did you/are you gonna do to build it? Mine is a turk, but actually is a real nice gun and does have the LW barrel. it's the most accurate springer i've ever shot but i have not tried it past 50 yards, it's only a .177. Anyways, those are awesome barrels and yours is a classic gun. Is your other tomahawk a U.K. too?  J

yep, and your .177 will shoot out to 75+yds or more if you learn how to shoot it, shooting those distances just takes practice, I sight in at 30yds and I've worked my way out to well over a 100yds. the key to a good shooting rifle is the barrel, trigger and the man behind the wheel!

lol no doubt about it. I've shot my 350 mag out to 100 as wll as the mrod but thats cheating. With the 350 i could only hold about 4" groups with it's favoriite pellets. Now the little webley did the below group at 35yards so i'd agree that it should still be printing some decent groups out to 75 yards. I'll have to give it a try and see.

well if you can do that at that distance you should be able to shoot out to 75yds and take game out easily with that rifle! I had a b40 that shot 707fps w/cphp's and I could take starlings at 80yds with no problem and the pellet would pass right thru them at that distance!
