Title: Ace Precision .35
Post by: oneshot61 on February 06, 2016, 05:50:55 PM
I had  some range time today and shot my ace .35 to compare the jsb 81 grain with the 95 grain that I purchased. I shot this on a 2700 psi fill and got these numbers. Shots were taken at 50 yards, 5 shot group from a front rest.
883
915
918
912
882

Was that string (peaking at 918fps) with the 95 grain? If so, that is 178 FPE.

Why are filling to 2700 PSI, and not 3100 or 3000? What is the recommended fill for this gun?

Yes, peaking at 918 with the 95 grain. Actually had one more shot in that string at 856 last shot. Anything above 2700  and I get  more progressive valve lock. I shot 110 grain from 3000 psi and had nine shots before I hit 800 fps. Recommended fill is 2650- 2800, with 3050 being the maximum fill. To move my power further up into higher fill pressure ill need a stronger spring. It shoots jsb 81 grain on a nice curve for 18 shots, but heavier than that really needs more spring tension.

Thanks for the info. This sounds like a superior gun indeed. Does yours come with a power wheel? And did you tune it up to full power for this string? If so, this looks like a gun that is just begging to be filled to full capacity (3050 psi) and then with a slightly stronger spring. This would keep up that power curve at the very respectable place it is now (180 FPE-ish) with the same high number of shots. It's a nice gun. If you don't mind my asking, where did you get yours?

Your welcome. Mine did not come with the power wheel, though I sort of wish that it had. I have not tuned this gun at all. Just trying different fill pressures and bullet weights. Im going into it tonight to see if I can adjust the spring tension any. I bought mine through mrod air. This one and the ace .25 just a few days apart. I think there is maybe ten or so imported? But I haven't found anyone with another .25. I wish someone could get them imported and more people could enjoy them.

Short BBTs, that's interesting. Do post the accuracy results, they should cast around 109 grains unless you have the HP version.

Chris is a great guy, and has been very helpful. You will love this gun no doubt. I think his (yours) has the power wheel. It says 9mm on it but when I switched to .357 Ammo, I got better speed and accuracy. Congratulations!!

I definitely will. The hollow points are next. I've been reading a lot about them and when my supplier said he had made some, I jumped on it.

Thanks!  Yes Chris is a standup guy for sure.  He sent me a bunch of ammo to try too!  Yes, it is the model with the power wheel.
He also indicated the barrel may work with a .358,, so I bought a 110 grain  mold and cast a few hundred.  They measure out at .3575..at least the good ones do.
The barrel slugged out at .3580 lands and .3545 on the grooves.  Will slug several more times to get an average.
BTW, do you have serial #s on yours?  Cant find any on mine..

I think we are fortunate to have such a great community, and right back at you msurf and oneshot61! Ive learned a great deal from both of you!

I had a feeling that barrel would slug larger than .357 for sure.  Made sense why the JSB shot well and the other pellets did not due to a smaller size.  I look forward to reading about progress and sulking about not having it anymore  :'( LOL She deserves to be used and is now in great hands!

I had asked about SN, but they did not put any on the short run they produced.

Tom, you get to tinker with yours yet?

It's just been sitting in the rack, I'm concerned about taking it apart without an exploded drawing at least.  It may be critical just how tight the air tube with the barrel through it should be tightened.  So I'm letting some other brave soul dive into it first or find some info.  Regards, Tom

No sir, no serial number for me that I have seen. Glad you slugged your barrel. I had the same feeling about the size. I had my bullets sized 356 and they did not do so well in accuracy or speed. When I shot the jsb I knew something was up. I remember William posting about companies calling their guns 9mm/357 and as he said, I doesn't work like that. I had a couple of eppug in 357 sent to me and what a difference, both in speed and accuracy. So I have a new order of 1000 :0, coming in various sizes. I found out that the rm jsb 95 were sized 356 and actually weighed 87. When I looked at my other bullets speed, I knew something was up. So im having more sent in 357, it should up the speed pretty good, the accuracy was there though. I have the 87 rm jsb, 357 eppug 90, the 100 ish  (don't know the exact weight yet) .357 boat tail, some 125 .357 boat tail coming. I have some 110,115 in house. So next weekend I will be testing them all for speed and accuracy. Also will have in about a month the hollow point boat tail in both 100 and 125.  Here's a picture of the 125 boat tail. Probably a little heavy for now, but maybe not later :)

I think some of us (at least 1) were thinking you would be that brave soul! Lol I attempted to communicate with the folks in Korea with limited success but given their other models, figured it was not too far off from others on the market, eg Evanix, Sumatra, etc. Not sure if this helps or not but may at least demystify barrel removal:

Yeah, I don't think ill be attempting that.  I did look at the plug holding the hammer spring in. Its two screws, one through the top behind the breech and one on the trigger assembly that holds it in. Ill de-gas it tomorrow and work on putting a small shim in the spring. Then check some over the chrony.

I got as far as making a tool to unscrew the barrel, then got to wondering if I would shear off a transfer port or something, so I put it back together.  Now that I have seen the Utube's, I will go ahead on the next occasion.  Thanks for putting those up.       Regards, Tom

After I saw them it did not look too daunting.

Finally got to shoot mine today....only one shot though!  She barks like my .45 Sam Yang.  Little too loud for the back yard right now.  Cant wait to shoot some more!

Never shot mine without the ldc, but I'm sure the neighbors wouldn't like it:)-
Put in a 4.5 mm shim ( a little much should go 3.5 for a flatter string) and shot this string.
110 grain  2750 fill 840,850,860,850,840 832. Odd getting round numbers like that. I tried the sorbothane washers, 2 then 1. Lost 200 fps in 2 and 100 fps in one. So I cut one down to 3/32 and shot this string with 90.4 eppug:
880 890 912 920 899 880 882 err 897 901 865. The spring is great for lighter ammo but fails to open the valve properly above 2750 even with a shim. I'm thinking about adding 5 grams to the hammer. It now weighs 90.7 grams. I did this to my ds and picked up 10 ftlbs, though it is very light , something like 53 grams:0! I have a heavier hammer spring cut to extend just short of the hammer hitting the valve, but have not had time to try it yet. I realize this gun is made for mid range power and shot count, but I'm having fun tuning. And I can always go back to the original setting. The limiting factor for me will be the ports and valve spring. I'm just tuning with hammer spring, weight and ammo :). ... Im think I'm an addict;)
