Title: Diana 34 pro ( now pic's )
Post by: s10gto on March 19, 2011, 05:54:28 PM
AOA has them for 195 scoped. What do you think of them in .177? My T05 .22 34 with GRT kit is a great shooter. Was looking around on sites and thought $195 gun , 3x9 scope , and mount sounds like a great deal!

Was also thinking it may have a outsourced barrel ,but so does my .22 and it is very accurate.

Thanks for any input!

Dustin

I don't have the pro but I have the 34 .177 and it is a tack driver, the pro would probably be balanced better. Most likely it will shoot great. Rob

It is a great price.
It has the TO5 trigger and maybe an outsourced barrel...but from what I've read on another gate,,,,,probably not.
An outsourced barrel wouldn't bother me and from your own experience doesn't mean poor quality.

I think most of the problems with the barrels were in the .22cal on the outsourced barrels which I can atest to I had 2 of them and was very disappointed and I've never bought another 34 since then so I've had a hole in my collection for a good while now  :'(

I missed the 34 pro when AGD had them on sale and regretted it.  Then Scott posted that AOA still had some.  I jumped on it.  The tracking said it should be here Wednesday.  This will be my first German shooter.  I'll let you know how I like it.

I got one from AOA and it was 12 land barrel unlike some of the 8 land ones Scott had

Critter 99, how long ago was it that you ordered yours?  How does it shoot even with the 12 land barrel?

pellet fussy barrel but the newer 8 lands seem to be pellet fussy too but not as much.  The 12 lands shoot about 30-40 fps faster due to the narrower lands and diff choke.

I would wait for the T06 Panther Pro Compacts....Umarex is still holding them back to sell off the T05s.

I bought mine at AOA in Jan 2011 and even asked them and was told it had a German barrel...when it arrived with the outsourced barrel they did not care what I had been told when I ordered it and even suggested the outsourced barrels were an "internet myth"

I quote them " It could be a fact, or it could be an Internet rumor" and "If you are having any issues with the rifle, you can contact Umarex USA."  this was one day after the rifle arrived not as described and they told me basically tough talk to somebody else. needless to say I will not buy anything I can get elsewhere from them again

That is the link to the Diana statement.

Diana never said Chinese barrels so the question to ask is 8 land versus 12 land

The 12 land seems to be very pellet picky compared to the T06 Classic  8 land I have since bought.  It will shoot with the right pellet but the 8 land shoots many pellets well.

I would avoid AOA on them and get a T06 Classic elsewhere.  The trigger is a big improvement over the T05 trigger.  The scope with the Pro IS NOT a Mildot.  I want a Panther Pro Compact in T06

I do love the matte finish it holds oil well and will be durable because of that

I know this question wasn't for me but I can tell you a little about it.

My 34 .177 8 grooves in barrel can clover leaf cphps around a pellet hole at 21 yards.

my 34 .22  12 grooves in barrel can do the same thing with predators, jsb diabolo stratons, and to a lessor extent cpums,
that is when she wears the leapers 3-9x40.

They are both extremely accurate except the .177 has a little less recoil, but if there is a target in either ones scope they will hit it.

Right now the 34 .22 wears a center point 4x32 set at 20 yards and can still group shots in an area less than a dime. Rob

I think the 12 land barrels were only placed in guns (34's and 350's) manufactured for a short period of time back in '08 or '09.......Diana realized pretty quick these barels were hit or miss and went back to making their own.....I have a .22 34 panther with a 12 groove chinese barrel that shoots pretty darn good and at a little over 700fps.....I got one of the good ones.....

Well guys she got here Wednesday.  This is my first German gun and might I say I'm very impressed.  It's definetly and 8 land barrel and it shoots great!  I've read a lot of posts where guys say they would like to have less trigger pull, this one works great!  Pull back on the trigger until she stops and then it takes nothing for it to go off.  Breaks at the same place everytime.  I don't have any way to give you any numbers, but there are two blackbirds laying in the field that says the numbers are pretty dang good.  It really likes the Crosman 10.5's.  I've tried the lighter JSB's and they're just not what shes asking for.  I tell you this thing spoiled me real quick.  I've got a practically brand new Gamo Hunter Pro and I'm thinking about getting rid of it and getting a 350 compact in a 22 caliber.  Remember this is with nothing done to the gun, just straight out of the box.  With about 100 shots through her so far.

As soon as I get it set-up and have a little more time I will let you guy know. ;D I wouldn't hesitate if you have been thinking of getting one. Very nice finish , stock and with 3-9x40 scope with drooper mount you just can't beat this deal for $198. ;D

My friends  350 .22 also came in with the 8 groove barrel. ;D

Mine came in today from AOA and im really impressed for $200. It has the 12 land barrel and shoots just like my 350 with the 8 land barrel as far as i can tell. i may buy one more for a back-up rifle.

Well I got a little time and the 34 pro shoots good. As I thought it needs a tune. Cocks smooth ,but can be smoother and has twang. With some JM lubes and maybe a seal I can tell this will be a fine shooter. @ 30 yards I was consistently hitting my 1 inch spinner.  ;D  Dustin
