Title: Gamo Coyote vs Benjamin Maurader
Post by: Chaazy on January 09, 2016, 04:41:55 PM
I'm looking to get my first pcp, been doing a little research and think I have narrowed it down to one of these. From what I have read the Benjamin is capable of higher energy, in case I want to hunt squirrels or rabbits but it is louder and heavier than the coyote, but the coyote seems to have a significantly better barrel.  Any opinions on the pros and cons of these two riffles? Also if someone thinks there is an even better option than these two let me know. The Air Arms S200 seems to be a popular one. I will have to make my purchase without getting to hold any of them, there is simply no market for pcp's here in Florida.

Benjamin Maurader being quieter then the coyote....dont know about that..

you never mentioned caliber? .17 .22 or .25 if .22 coyote dont go buy a mrod....Your price range seems to be in the $500...

If your set on a .22 then get a refurbished mrod and then a tj barrel.

 Pro of a mrod .177 & .25

 Aftermarket support is huge

 Barrels tend to be great

 Power and Performance

 Parts easily available

Cons

Cheap would stock?

Gamo would be hard to get a hold of if parts are need. OleTomCat may know similar parts but Im not sure. Other then that Im not sure

Gamo Coyote = BSA Buccaneer and Knibbs sells parts for BSAs. BSA barrels are extremely good in general but you need a LDC to make it quiet. Downside is the POS Gamo trigger unit used in Coyote and Buccaneer. CZ200 is a low power gun but if don't need that much power I would go for a magazine version of that over Marauder or Gamo. Then there are real BSA PCPs and they have been on sale at Amazon for under 500$, that would be my choice for higher power gun.

Hatsan AT-44 would also be a good gun for that price range what i read in this forum....

I have not bothered to chono my little .177 Buc but it is accurate on a full fill with 15.2 gr snipers and 13.4 gr monsters and has also with a lower fill done well with a few 9.7 gr and 10.3g and even does well with the Benji 7.9 gr  but fill pressure is the only adjustability...

I find the trigger very usable but eventually will put a CDT just because I like metal...

so for adjustability the Mrod wins over the Coyote hands down...

My .25 Mrod is very accurate and at distance would outshoot the underpowered .25 yote...

.22 caliber well I think the Yote might the safer bet... and maybe someone will make a power adjuster for the Buccaneer/Coyote?

But I like the idea of just getting another barrel for my Mrod  be it choked L.W. .22 pellet or .22lr choked Beretta or .224 Marlin ( guess you could do the same with a BSA/Gammo )...

If I quit being Lazy I would build a shroud for the Buc... Those cans they are putting one the buc/yote are not acceptable to me... YUCK...

The Mrod handles a bit ponderously while the Buc handles like a slightly overweight carbine and the balance feels great...

Parts well we will see They have not released a parts diagram yet on the Yote/Buc...

Thanks for the info guys, I hadn't researched BSA other than the R10 (which is on the short list for future purchases) but right now my wife just wouldn't understand a 1200$ toy, I will look into the Buccaneer and Scorpion. I do want to stay .22 or .25 as I plan on some pest control. But now it seems .22 real BSA vs .25 Maurader is the question.

No question, IMO...go for the .25 Marauder. The .25 pellets aoooo much better at dealing with cross winds v. the .22's. The wind drift is huge compared to calm air accuracy differences( if there happen to be any ). The .25 will do a better job when it gets there too for that matter...:)
cheers,
Douglas

The .25 Marauder is an extremely accurate PCP and the rifle although not mouse fart quiet is is back yard friendly. The Green Mountain barrel in the .25 Marauder does the job at 50 + yards

Great News! After a little more research I found an almost new gen 2 .25 synthetic stock Maurader on eBay with a BSA 6-24 x44 side wheel focus scope and bipod plus 3 tins of pellets for < 600$. Its already killing me waiting for it to get delivered.
