Hi All,
I bought a gun case soft sided, from Sportman's Guide and thought I would talk about it here as it seems the place to do it. Here is the link
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/3-rifle-case?a=1336188 (http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/3-rifle-case?a=1336188)
It says 3 guns and yet it appears not to be at first. It is roomy and when fully opened it has spots with velcro to tie down two rifles. So I did. It also has an internal pad that fold out for you to stuff a 3rd in between it then between the two outer panels. I did not think it would work, but it can be done. I actually put two small units, the Ruger Explorer and the Powermaster 880 inside the "TACO" that is the inner "pocket".
You would need that even if you only had 2 rifles.
That taco comes out and attaches to the bag to make a shooting mat, or for a small kid a shooting mat by itself. Not horrible actually.
It also sports 2 outer pockets that are said to be for pistols and enough pouches for a lot of ammo if you are shooting say 30.06 rifle rounds or big clips. But remember folks you must be able to lift it. SG could not tell you what the plastic parts are rated for in weight so we shall see.
BUT WAIT THERE"S MORE.
It also has both handles or shoulder strap, AND a set up to carry it like a back pack. The Nitro piston is heavy, even in the non wood version, the 4 rifles weighed in quite a bit and I only carried it a short distance. But it was nice to not look like a brooklyn hood with a rifle wrapped in a towel, which is what I did to take them out the first time. Only time will tell if it holds up. The material looks good/tough, and if the stiching is as good as it looks and the plastic parts don't pop, then this is going to be well worth it. I do get a good vibe though. I should have gotten a few gun socks though and may order some tonight.
And last, the NP is long and I ordered the longest one, that allows me to really push thew rifles apart and stagger the glass. That also allows that 3rd even 4th small rifle to sit nicely.
