Title: "Bing" off goes my scope stop on my Hatsan Edge !
Post by: wll2506 on January 03, 2016, 01:56:32 PM
Was out hunting this am when it cut loose, still held up but I could tell she was creeping back. Got her home, backed out the sheared off screw and replaced it. The scope mounts were not as tight as they were a few weeks ago after a lot of shooting. Just using the screw this time, will get some allen head screws for the final fix as they are of lower height I think.

Heading out again in a few minutes to give it another go ;-  )

These guns are so powerful.

Yes they are. have this gun sighted in at 35 yds took a 77 yards shot, was right on height wise but about 2 inches to the left, I thought I would miss as my shooting sticks slipped when the shot went off. So far this afternoon everything is working fine... the Edge in .177 drives a pellet like a tight rope. I'm shooting Kodiaks as it makes no sense to shoot a light pellet in this gun.

Took a 75 ish yard shot at a starling first two shots were too high, the third just went over his back as he fluttered looked around, then took off ! 75 yards is shooting about 9 inches low when I'm sighted in at 35 yds with this gun.

might want to try using a dab of blue locktite on the scope rings too.

Do the 95's and Strikers have grooves for weaver mounts? I know the 125 and Walther do and they are needed.

If your ring screws are loosening definitely use lock-tite. Any scope under warranty can be void if you over tighten the rings (they look to see a crimp in tube from rings being too tight). What a Hawke tech told me is 16 lbs of torque can be achieved by only using the short length of allen key to turn. Will hurt too much to go over that recommended torque. If you use the long end you can reach near 40 lbs of torque. Stick with short end to turn and use lock-tite.

The strikers don't , don't know if the 95 dose or not . The striker has 11mm dovetails milled directly into the compression tube . They have two sets of holes drilled and tapped for a stamped steel scope stop that is to far forward to be of much use . at least on my edge .

I use a medium UTG one piece mount without issue . Nice mount for the price and fits my edge very well without canting or other fitment issues cheap dove tail rings often have .

The rings i have been using are cheapos, NcStar, but they are very good rings. One of the things about them is there is a thin lining on the inside of the scope, so when you clamp down it does not mar the scope at all and holds very, very, very well. The clamp on the rails uses two allen screws per mount and can be really locked down tight. It is just the fact that the Striker has a kick being it is so powerful. Just chronographed mine and my .177 Kodiaks are coming out at about 850 fps, my .22 caliber is about 760 fps... that for a little $87.00 gas ram gun is a lot !

Same here.  Has been a very stable mount on my Striker Edge and has survived almost 1000 rounds.

I am a new owner of a Striker Edge in .177 and want to know if those of you who are using one piece mounts are removing the stop plate. It is too forward for me to mount the scope with the two piece rings.  This is my first springer and I have already learned a lot in this forum thanks to you experienced Hatsan users!

I left the stop plate on my 95. Also using a one piece mount.

This is what you need to mount your scope and get it back for proper eye relief.  Leave the scope stop where it is and butt the bottom of the mount up to it. Good idea to remove the stop's screws first and clean both sets of the threads of oil with alcohol and apply blue Loctite to them. I use one of these mounts on both my Benji LE and Hatsan 95.

I removed mine . I did consider the offset mount but it was too tall for my liking . I went with the  medium utg one piece . The mount has not moved any that I can see .

Yes, this is an annoying issue. They should have moved the stop plate back for better eye relief. In my case I moved the plate back by just using the back screw hole on the action and it worked out fine for me.

Thanks for the responses.  I'll probably try moving the stop plate back using the back screw only and get an offset one piece mount if that doesn't work.

I've seen posts where the stop was moved to the two forward holes and then using two piece mounts, placing the forward ring in front of the stop.

That's what I did.  The eye relief is good until after 6-7x, but the scope isn't clear at that point anyway.

Well Im still a newb and learning but I like this one over the one piece with rings...gives me more wiggle room to move scope back and forth in rings...works perfect on my Hatsan 95....

I tried 2 different 11mm to weaver adapters on my 95 (neither was this UTG) and no matter which way I used the side plate neither would sit level on the receiver, both "cocked" to the left big time. I went ahead and mounted my CP 4-16X40 AO scope with the UTG offset bracket and that works fine for eye relief. I went ahead and ordered the UTG adapter (the same one in your link) from ebay for a good price & it came today. I'd try it out right now on my Edge but I'm pretty hobbled right now-just had a full knee replacement & can't get to the rifle safely. I'll get my dear wife to retrieve it and bring it to the kitchen table for me. Seems to me that if their offset mount fits fine on a Hatsan 11mm receiver the adapter should as well. We'll see.

I forgot to mention , this also works well on my QB57....obviously I had to get weaver/picatinny   rings....good luck and good luck on your recovery....Happy Shooting...

Thanks Phil--doing pretty good. Mama is at church so I'll try it out on the Edge later this afternoon. I've got a CP 3-9X40 AO sitting here with weaver/picatinny rings so I'm good to go. I really don't want a scope on my Edge .25, just curious if it works. If so, I'll probably use it on my 95 eventually.

Ed

BTW, ignorant question---What's a QB57?
