Title: broken safety spring
Post by: Grunon on December 23, 2015, 07:28:10 AM
I have two Hatsan Edge Vortex rifles.
One is .177 with 2462 rds through it the other is .22. with 464 rds fired.

Looking at the .177 after taking the trigger guard off I saw a spring flopping loose.
Took the stock off and found the safety spring had broken off at one end.
A closer look shows the end of the spring has been cut half way through with some tool similer to wire cutters.

I took the stock off the .22 and found the spring although not broken shows the same cut mark. It seems a Hatsan employee is installing the spring with the wrong tool and cutting them to the point to guarantee breakage sooner or later

If I have two rifles of different calibers purchased months apart but with the same factory induced cuts on the springs how many more are there in circulation?

This post for information only, no help needed. I have already bent the coil at the broken end and made an eye out of it to reconnect the safety spring.

Thanks for the post. I'll check out my Edge and Webley Spector (same gun except stock). Sounds like they installed the spring a pair of snips, using them like pliers instead of using a spring hook. ::)
