Title: Tuned D460
Post by: MicErs on December 21, 2015, 06:04:00 PM
I sent my Diana 460 to John in PA a while back and told him "Vortek kit and the works favor accuracy over power and take your time."

When I shipped the gun it was doing nickle sized groups at 20 yards with it's favorite fodder.  I hoped it would come back able to do dime sized groups at 20 yards.  It isn't, nope, it is doing dime sized groups at 32 yards in a 10 or 12 mile per hour breeze.  I'm tickled.  These are the first ten 5 shot groups out of it since I got it back.  It isn't even shot in yet.

I take responsibility for the fliers.  While I shot those groups I was changing the zero between groups.  The last group I shot is the one on the left in the bottom row.  Out of 50 consecutive shots 45 were touching the dime or under it.

Oh, the shot cycle was already pretty good.  There was a tiny bit of spring rubbing going on when cocking but not at all bad.  Now?  Now the shot cycle is a lot like closing the door on a BMW, just a solid thunk, no vibration at all.  Cocking? Not a whisper till she clicks in at the end of the stroke.

The trigger? Nice first stage to take up slack.  Second stage breaks like glass.

Check out the SD in the before and after chrony test.

Very nice improvements using a professional tuner. I installed the Vortek kit in my .22 460 and with the tinned CP ammo I see numbers right in the middle of your two strings. My gun likes JSB 18gr. best for accuracy at yardage.
Great post MicErs.

I sent my 460 to him the first week of December for a full tune with the PG2 kit. Looks like you got great results from having him work on yours. I looking forward to getting mine back. Hope to see similar results.

He does exceptional work.  I am now waiting for exceptional shooting weather to put the gun through it's paces at 50 meters.  I think it is probably a 2 MOA rifle and that is not at all bad for a 23 FPE springer.
