Title: FX Boss .30
Post by: upthehill on December 18, 2015, 02:29:57 PM
OK, I'm in love.

I got an FX Boss, synthetic stock yesterday, mounted a Leapers 8-32 scope on it and I'm making 1" holes at 75 meters. Quiet as sin and lots of shots per fill.  FPS is 862 FPS +/-5 using the JSB 50gr Diablo

it's going to take a while to wipe the smile off my face.
I haven't been this pleased with an out of box gun (either PB or Airgun) in quite a while.  actually I don't think I've ever been this pleased with a gun out of the box with no mods.

already went through a tin of pellets, I need to bulk order some pellets, and see what else is out there, preferably some in a HP for predator hunting.

Congratulations 😀 Very nice for bench and semi stationary hunting. Glad your happy. Although if it were I 44g would be the ticket to a flatter shooting round & 890-900fps for that gun , best of luck with your new hammer👍🏻

FX makes some really nice stuff and the Boss is probably my favorite FX gun.

I thought of that, but wanted the extra 5 FPE the 50gr pellets gives me. and (according to chairgun) with a 60 yard zero the 50gr pellets will hit +/- 2" out to 70 yards. easy enough to compensate for hunting from a blind or over bait. Need to do some more testing / shooting in my backyard range to verify both.

I shot some 44 and 50 gr JSB over the chrono and at 55 & 75 yard targets.
the 44 average 885 FPS, but have one heck of a corkscrew when traveling to 75 yards.
with a 55 yard zero, there was about a 6" drop at 75 yards.

the 50gr pellets averaged 865 and hardly had a spiral noticeable.
this was when the wind was starting to blow, (probably 10 - 15 MPH) and I had to stop because it started snowing hard. can't even see the 75 yard target now.
gotta love winter in Maine, blue skies to heavy snow in < 20 minutes

I couldn't continue shooting, so I'm not sure about what the drop is from 55 yards to 75 yards with the 50gr pellets

There should never be spiraling ever under any circumstance, Your clipping or have some issue if thats the case.

Burrr!!! Exactly why I live in Central Texas. If it does snow, more that likely, it will clear by evening in time for swimming! LOL

Congrats on the Boss. Yep. Sounds like a bit of clipping.

went back shooting today. not a whisper of wind.
and no sprialing. the snow squall that came thru last time must have had interesting gusts further down range to cause what looked like a corkscrew.  though the heavier 50gr pellets are still more accurate at 75 meters.
