The first poll determined that any range over 100 yards should be allowed, with the target size to qualify for membership to be scaled to the distance, with a specified number of hits required.... Please vote for your choice of target size, and add comments if you wish.... If you wish to see a more lenient target for Springers, please specify that in your post.... There is a separate Poll dealing with this issue as well....

the only input i can think of is not to have any more black on the target than necessary as it's hard to see a hit on a black target.
-
Yes, 1 MOA is normally taken to be 1" at 100 yards, 2" at 200 yards, etc.... The specified target size is the "qualification ring", ie the largest ring where a hit counts, and should, IMO, be marked on the target, centered on the aiming point.... In the first Poll I showed some targets that were white with thin black rings only, white with a black bull the size of the 4 MOA ring, and white with a yellow bull the size of the 4 MOA ring.... They are merely suggestions / examples of what could be used....
Bob
-
Results of this poll are pretty clear.... most want a 4 MOA target used to qualify for membership....
Bob
-
A nice follow up query/poll would be what caliber/gun do you shoot at 100 yards?

I was wondering if this target is acceptable, to shoot for NUAH? My pellets should be here today. The "good ones". I'm pretty stoked. I set my target up last night, at 100 yds, and one foot. Using the guns seemingly second favorite ammo I managed a first shot hit. Then 4 consecutive misses. After that it was off, and on. Plenty enough hits for me feel good about my expectations once my ammo gets in today.
Which brings me to a question, or two. Using the target in the photo; how many shots, culminating in what group size, do I need to shoot to get in?

Even if the rules had been published (which they haven't), how could anyone answer the question about your target without dimensions of it?....

Sorry it was gamo target I thought someone might be familiar with it. My mistake.

Take a pic of the target with a tape measure at the widest part of the target and re-post.

It looks like the "3" ring is about 4" across.... If the rules are approved, and 4 MOA is decided on, 3 out of 5 shots inside that and you should be a member.... Give it a go and see how you do....
Bob

So, a 4 inch bull on the target will be used at 100 yards?

I received my order of "the good stuff", last night. H&N FTT 5.55s. Shot about 20 times. I can definitely hit the paper quite regularly. I didn't spend too much time dialing in my scope, as the light was fading. Additionally, I have 8 differing types of H&Ns line up, slated to arrive today. This weekend could be a great time if the weather cooperates. Kinda excited to see if any of the 8 new types out perform the FTT 5.55s.

Check out Bob's 4 MOA target. It fits really well for 100 to 200yrds.
-
Tim I already printed them out and will have the targets tomorrow for the shoot. ;D

4 MOA was my suggestion, it's Joe's call....

Honestly, I would be too if I were him. This NUAH club has gotten out of control IMO. :P
-
Interesting comment.... care to elaborate?....
Bob

Well, I obviously can't speak for Joe, but the vibe I got from him back when this all started was that he wanted to keep it pretty informal. If you have shot something >100 yards, then you're in. If you shoot a 4'x8' plywood board at 110 yards with your $100 Crosman Optimus, then awesome. You're in. I just feel like it's been regulated more than Joe originally planned. I don't personally mind too much. 4 moa target, 100+ yards. Cool, that's pretty simple. I just think that over complicating it makes it less fun.
-
I apologize if you think it got out of hand and is too regulated.... You had plenty of time to voice that opinion, however, in the Rules discussion and the subsequent Poles, which you chose not to participate in.... Joe asked me to come up with a proposal, and I did.... I could care less if hitting a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood at 100 yards qualifies you for membership or not.... but I certainly tried to find out what the majority wanted in a democratic manner.... I apologize for getting involved and trying to help....

They don't make rocks that big... :o
Posting rules now. Sorry, but life caught up and I have other things going on too.

Ok, no problem, just wondering. Sorry about the rock comment. ;D

There was no offense taken. I was just joking with you. But the rules are now posted.
Sorry for the wait, all.

My apologies Bob. I did not mean to slight your contribution at all. Like I said, I don't mind too much. And you are quite correct, I didn't voice my opinion earlier so I have no reason to whine now. It seems I posted before I got caught up on the situation. Last time I had checked the NUAH club they/we were trying to decide on a patch/logo and it was disorganized. It appears you have organized it quite well! Again, my apologies to you.
-
Glad to see you took care of the rules Joe. If you want me to start working on the logos let me know. If you have one you like best post it with any changes you want.

No worries, Sam. I want to get the logo together. Just needed to make sure we knew which direction to go. With all the input and then the adding of member levels---it got disorganized. Guess next time it should not have input from others... ::) But hopefully it will be ok.

How do pistols fit into the equation? Or, do they perhaps need their own sub group?
-
If you can get a pistol to shoot 100yds---you will be the man.
I had thought about that, and may do a different category later this year...say 50yds and further.
Joe
-
Don't go giving me ideas... They get me in trouble. Lol. But, yeah. Pistols too. Why not. I'm no contender. But it's a brass ring to reach for...
-
I like the idea of a pistol group. But AG's like the TalonP or the P-Rod, I think should be classified as a carbine, because they utilize a stock. The P-Rod, if fired as a pistol, yes. But we would most definitely need proof that it was fired as a pistol. With rifles we expected to see most of them rested when attempting to hit 100 and beyond. With pistols, they could be rested, but one sees them being fired from a standing position. So I will have to put some thought into this one.
Joe
-
Thanks Joe. Now I need to find a way to pay for membership at the private range again for this year. I'd like to see a pistol class too.
-
Is there really a difference between a pistol fired from a good solid rest, and a rifle, assuming both are scoped?....
Bob
-
That will be one heck of a rainbow shot.
-

Bob
Length of the barrel?
-
I was referring to accuracy, not velocity.... Most pistols should have enough velocity to reach 100 yards.... Gravity may inhale, but at least it does so consistently.... You don't need long barrels for accuracy, the lead-sled PB benchrest rifles now are getting shorter and shorter....

I still see NUAH as informal, as there is no real competition between members, mostly you are competing against yourself and your skills.
But I liked the standardization of the rules and think they are reasonable.
Thank you Joe for starting the NUAH club (come this summer I probably be swearing your name as I go through tins of pellets shooting NUAH), thank you to Bob for your mad organization skills, and thank you to everyone else who added their comments or have made a go at shooting NUAH!
FYI, you should see some of the looks I get when I tell others about a group of guys who shoot past 100yrds . . . with a AG!

Pistol?

There you go.
And you may swear my name. Whenever I do a misfire. I say "I Joe'd that shot"! Come to think about it, all my buds says that, too. :D
