Title: Hatsan 95 Vortex .22 chrony numbers
Post by: Bleeb on November 29, 2015, 07:30:05 PM
I finally got a chance to shoot the Hatsan 95 Vortex .22 thru the chronograph. I used my CED M2 with infrared sensors outdoors at 4' from the muzzle. The pellets were H&N FTT 14.66gr.

The string was as follows:
766
772
769
776
779

So.....is this OK for the gun with less than 50 shots thru it? Thanks.

Those look to be good #'s.  My 85 shot right in there and they are rated about the same IIRC.  That's plenty for hunting.

Im really impressed with Hatsan air rifles i own a couple other 22 cal springers that are rated 1,000 fps alloy or 800 lead in 22 cal and the hatsans hit alot harder. hatsan break barrels are currently my favorite  i own 3 with a 125 vortex on the way and may buy another 95 in 25 cal just to have a spare

I've read some older posts where it was stated that sub-800 numbers for these weight pellets did not meet Hatsan specs.

Hatsan USA returned my call today and stated that those chrony numbers are right in the spec for the 14.66gr. pellets. He said they use the Vortex Express pellets at 13.12 grains for their fps standard.

Thanks Gimeszee. They would appear to align with my numbers. How do those Beeman shoot, accuracy-wise?

They are usable but not as good as JSB's out beyond 25 yards.

Here are some Chrony data figures for a couple of guns using different pellets, including my 95 Vortex. Hope this helps determine how your 95 is measuring up.

So the chrony data on mine from Airgun Pro Shop when they tuned says it averaged 837 fps yielding 22 ft lbs using a Hatsan Vortex Express pellet weighing 14.13g. The only thing is, every Hatsan Vortex Express I see on line weighs 13.12g.?

There is a Vortex Supreme 14.66 grain.

With the tune are they going to up the Vortex ram to 150 BAR? I'd get that done for max umph!

Mid 800's is a really good place to be for accuracy. I personally like heavier pellets for more stability, as heavy as the gun can take them and then in the 850fps range.

Just for clarification, all of my Chrony samples are taken within 12" of the muzzle. I have a sled I use when gathering data that  holds the rifle and keeps the muzzle very close to the first sensor, and puts the pellets in the same spot every time.

I'm not sure if they juice the ram or not, I doubt it. I've never shot a tuned gun before and I'm gaga over the few dozen pellets I've put through it so far.

I was getting errors any closer than 4' from the muzzle. I set up as I usually do for rifles, at 2', and registered two shots at over 2100 fps! The muzzle blast is the likely suspect. After backing off to 4', the readings became pure.

Your numbers are right in line with my findings on my Hatsan Vortex Edge in .22. (I believe the same power plant as my 95) I get In the 750+fps with CPHP, some in the 760+fps range as my batch seems to have some that are sized a little smaller. (it may be the fact my tin of CPHP was seriously smashed in when I bought it from Wall Mart, I did not check it ... I check them all now) The Crosman Piranha pellets at the same weight are flying in general 10+ fps faster, and seem to be a bit more consistent.

I might add, this gun has maybe 100 rounds through it at the most, probably closer to 75, so she is just getting smoothed out.

I might add I'm very impressed withe Hatsan Vortex guns, great velocity, very nice quality and at a reasonable price. I can't get over the value of the little Hatsan Edge !
