Title: Amazon made it hard, but I got my rifle!!
Post by: SteveP-52 on November 27, 2015, 03:08:18 AM
I finally decide to click the button on a Webley Spector .177, only $53.43 and finally add the caliber I've joked about not owning, get to checkout and get the message saying they can't deliver to my address.
Every other air gun selling company on the net will happily send me anything I want and I live outside any places in NY that don't allow air guns  to be shipped, and I have  checked because there are few but not Amazon. They think I live in one apparently.
I shoulda bought the refurbed Striker 1000s at Field supply when it was only $65...but that price changed to $89 at midnight...ughhhhhh

I've had the same problem with Wal-Mart.  They won't ship anything  like that to my address or even ship to store. I even tried co2 carts which I can walk into the store and buy but they said sorry that's their policy not shipping to states with any kind of restrictions.

Good luck.
I have similar problems living in Illinois.
We just got the law changed to better than it was. I think part of the problem is the local areas (mostly Chicago area) that ban airguns. Rather than take a chance some places won't even ship a Red Ryder downstate.
I bought half a dozen Winchester springers from one place about 10 years ago. Tried to reorder and they had changed (or started following) their shipping policy.
The nice thing about smaller and strictly airgun operations is they are a lot easier to reason with. BIG outfits, much less so.

Hi I have the same issue with Dicks sporting goods.
I can go in and buy stuff right off the shelf with no questions asked but when I try to buy online the site will not allow the transaction, they say shipping to Mass is restricted
Hope you can get your issue resolved

Dave

Yup. I just had a chat session with one of Amazon's customer reps on Wednesday about that. I gave her evidence from other vendor's shipping policies that my area was not prohibited. She said she would forward the info up the chain. I had ordered and received an airgun last December from Amazon with no problems.

Does anyone notice which states have these issues? All I can say is, it's good to live in a red state.

Obama/Clinton hot air ban.  Let them pry my red ryder from my cold dead hand.

New York has certain zip codes in the New York City area that restrict the shipping of air rifles, but I live on the other side of the state almost a 9 hour drive and the zip codes aren't even close.
I did test an idea and stuck the Webley in the cart with a Hatsan from Field Supply...the Hatsan I can have, no questions, the Webley was supplied by Webley and Scott Ltd, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

The Amazon rep noticed that Amazon vendors such as Field Supply would ship to me, but that Amazon themselves would not. I hope it gets straightened out.

After my 3rd phone call to Amazon and finally getting a helpful service rep, the issue is that Webley and Scott Ltd sold the rifles to Amazon with limitations and one of those was that they couldn't be shipped to New York State addresses.
Soooo....just so happens I have a brother in Vermont who Amazon will happily ship to, so next Tuesday, my brother is getting a box with a new Webley Spector .177 in it that I ended up getting for the current selling price of a whole $50.53 for a rifle that sells everywhere else for $149.99

The price is now down to $49.65

Glad you can have yours shipped to Vermont, but the issue is not limited to Webley. Crosman, Walther, Hatsan, and RWS also cannot be shipped to my unrestricted zip code, and surrounding zip codes from Amazon.

Weird because the Hatsan I was also looking at on Amazon was being sold by Amazon and shipped by Field Supply and they were all set to let me buy it and have it shipped.
I was originally on the Field Supply site and looking at a couple refurbs: a Striker 1000s for $65 and a Striker 1000 Vortex for $108, had them in the cart but hesitated and took them back out. By the time I got back, those prices had gone up $21 a piece...if you don't mind the idea of a refurb air rifle, they had some pretty good deals and Field Supply is only down in Bath, PA
