A healthy R9 in .20 will do high 6s to low 7s with a heavy .20 cal pellet (14.3 gr). The .20 cal pellet is more ballistically efficient and will carry more power than any .177 in 1000 fps. (not to mention that it will buck the wind a lot better). I would not ignore a .20 cal R9, if you are lucky enough to find one.
To the orininal poster... you said you were told you needed a gun that broke 1000 fps... if you dont mind me asking, why so fast? Most full power 1000 fps guns will stay in the high 8s to low 9s with any pellet worth shooting. Besides wowing at the chrony, what is the point if the gun will be hard to shoot, loud AF, and most likely as accurate as a brown bess... If we can figure out what you would like to do, we may be able to share our ideas or opinions on what may work better. Dont show up at the Indi500 on a minivan (i know, i know... Renault had a F1 car built on the Espace minivan platform...)lol.
