I just tested my Webley Mk3 and with a 14 grain pellet I was getting 572 FPS. Around 10 FP. Have no idea if it is totally original but it looks to be just in great shape? It is not easy to cock so the spring is not a weak one.
...Another thing maybe to check is to see if the piston seal and/or tap are good by cocking, opening the tap, and while holding the lever, pulling the trigger and seeing how swiftly it seems to decock?...
I found my previous source of spring specs, being shared by none other than OldAir and MDriskill. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/americanvintageairguns/help-with-factory-spring-specs-on-webley-mk3-t5426.htmlAnother thing maybe to check is to see if the piston seal and/or tap are good by cocking, opening the tap, and while holding the lever, pulling the trigger and seeing how swiftly it seems to decock?Hopefully some of this information helps!

On mine, I hear a whoosh of air rush into the compression chamber when I close the tap.

Compression is good.I tore it down again and here is what I got for measurements:length - 8.5"coils - 30 (including the ends)wire diameter- .112inside diameter- .555outside diameter- .792so, looks like the spring is the culprit. I'll order a new one from Chambers. Thanks for everyones help!
