Winds are HOWLING today, we just made a trip to Iowa to the Newton NASCAR track and back, our gas mileage increased by a full 10 MPH with the winds blowing us up north!

This means, no shooting at all until the winds get under 10MPH or it's all Kentucky Windage and no skill. I guess I'll just tear down the G3 in .22 and see what's inside?

Day 3 in the hospital feeling better. Sitting up in a chair now. Not happy I'm here and my brand-new DAR Gen3 is hanging on the wall at home. Well, it is getting a good pressure test.

No problem.  The broaching leaves a deceptive marking.

Going to increase hammer spring a little. Want to try to get 70fps more out of JSB 18.1. Shooting them at 819fps right now.

That's about where mine came set at, then after 30 shots it would climb up to 900 or so for about 10 shots then drop off fast. I turned til just shy of coil bind and now it's getting 890-900 with 18.13s for exactly 30 shots then climbs for a couple shots into the 910 range and falls off. I had hoped for more shots out of the rifle but it is what it is. Its very accurate so the low shot count is acceptable.

Adjust just shy of no cocking getting 875fps with JSB 18.1 and 926fps with Hades 16.9. It is raining today I know with my other PCPs low pressure area lowers the fps will retest on sunny day.

You can get a few good turns from the hammer spring easily, just make sure it cocks freely so you know it's not spring bound. The regulator really needs to be changed to get your speed then the hammer spring is the fine adjustment for finding your curve.

Had my 22 cal out again this morning first time with no wind to really speak of. I also shoot from between my house and the neighbor's house down into my pellet trap 30 yards. There is a bad echo in this area, and the report of the gun barely gets amplified. Clapping is significantly louder.
Shooting from a chair with the gun propped up on a towel on top of my BBQ pit, I was getting multiple hole in hole shots. Ended up with 30 shots all with in a dime size group. I didn't even sort the pellets and was shooting 18.13s

Took the DAR and my flashpup over to my dad's for some BBQ today and got to shoot some farther groups. 60 yards and I was surprised that the DAR did BETTER with the cheap crosman hollow points vs the 18.13 pellets. Shooting from his deck railing, no other support besides resting the gun on my hand, and it was shooting dime and nickel size groups with them. Occasional fliers, but I was impressed. The flashpup, even with a 6x less power scope, held its own. It was stacking pellets with 18.13s, did so so with the 14.3s.

I then proceeded to pop sparrows at the fence line which is exactly 75 yards. Got a few on the power lines that are another 10 yards past. I couldn't believe it. All with the cheapest pellets I have! Too bad no squirrels showed up.
Best part is, the 975 fps velocity is giving me a very flat trajectory. My brother was blown away by the accuracy and balance of the DAR. I'm starting to think they just might be worth the new $500 price tag lol.

Yes, I agree, the new DAR Gen 3 is significantly better than the Gen 2.

My Gen 3 is 22 caliber.  This is turning out to be an ideal choice because it is very (fully) quiet with the stock shroud and needs no additional LDC.  By fully quiet, I mean adding more quieting (e.g., an LDC or a larger LDC) does not get it any quieter.  I had to add a small LDC to the 25 cal to get it fully quiet and that increases the length of the gun and the cost.

Others have posted the obvious improvements in the Gen 3, but I also noticed the screws are upsized and stronger than they were in the Gen 2 or Gen 1.  For me, that is important, because I do all my own maintenance and tuning, so I take my guns apart.  The last thing I want is a stripped screw or stripped allen head.

I have not yet done any tuning on my new 22 Gen 3, other than to remove all the creep out of the trigger.  I did fully clean the barrel and that is important for any new airgun.  I get a little over 3 magazines on regulator, then the velocity rises steeply so I know I can get better efficiency with some tuning.

Airgun values: high-accuracy, very-quiet, light-weight, good balance, lots of consistent shots per fill (usually from regulator), magazine repeater, side lever, two-stage adjustable trigger
Optics values: must hold zero, clear image, bright image, fine reticle with mildots, light-weight, side focus
Airgun motivation: pest elimination, target shooting, super tuning, accurate long-distance shots
