Title: Daisy W1100 s front site
Post by: Nick horse on January 16, 2022, 06:30:50 AM
I was wanting to add fiber optic rod but was nervous about messing up my gun.  It worked out good, not perfect. I like it. Reduced MOA coverage by front site and better in poorer light. I would like to reduce the rear notch width but not sure how. To much light gap from side to side requires more concentration for me in different light at different angles. Open site like on the original 10/22 would be nice.

One could fill in the notch of the rear sight with epoxy putty, let it cure then file in your desired grove size, add black paint.

This would be the most simple and straight forward plan. epoxy would have much greater hardness than the plastic sight. Maybe I could try a softer material with paint Initially or stick a piece of plastic on the face with a precut notch.Something more reversible if it made glare worse.  The notch is very shallow on these so smoothing faces on a tiny area.

Just yesterday I was looking to see if any other Daisy model rifles had interchangeable fiber optic front sight posts to use on the 1101S. I really would like one!

It seems from other posts that the Daisy 800, 1000 Made by Hatson have stocks that interchange with the 1100 & 1101. Don’t know what kind of sight the Hatson made guns have on or if they have the removable post like ours. May have to call. It really makes it nicer for me.

For a few years now, I’ve been using super glue with baking soda for little filler projects like this. Easier to apply than epoxy and files/sands well. Color it with a Sharpie marker.

Thanks for mentioning this. I also use this for repairs and attachments. It sets instantly even the cheap CA glue
and is hard.  I have a pistol that I attached a fiber rod using CA glue and sprinkling with baking soda after I stuck it in place on top of the post vs drilling a hole like I did on the 1100s.   Also good for repairing cracks in plastic receivers. On that pistol sight I stripped some multi strand copper wire and removed one strand. Wrapped the one strand around rod several times on each end. Filed the metal sight down which was high anyway and then glued the rod on top of the front post at the two spots of the wire wrap.  Wire made enough height to let light under the rod and it seems very tight, looks good and has held good in and out of holster. I stuck a fiber rod on a 760 with a version of that method.Little reluctant about sharing red neck engineering mostly. Heck even if it bangs off in an accident dragging through the bushes no big deal to replace. I drilled the 1100s sight because it removed from the gun easily. Accidentally let the chuck hit the end of the sight when I drilled it and built it back a tad just as you suggested.    Back on topic though. Trying to determine my best relative size and shape for rear notch.

I would just have painted the blade gold or yellow.

Those stocks are not interchangeable. I have Hatsan made Win. 1000w and 800w and the Chinese made Win. 1100W and 1100s. The Hatsan models the front stock screws go straight in 90 degrees to the side. The Chinese version the side stock screws go in at an upward angle.

The rear stock bolt on the Turkey guns are behind the trigger and on the Chinese models in front of the trigger.
