I know that there is a restriction on discussing firearms here, and I’m not trying to start a conversation on that topic, but as a lover of airguns and a member of this community, I had to post something. If this is too off-topic for the back room, please feel free to close or delete the thread.
I was really surprised to find an antique firearm in the eaves of a house I just moved into last week. It is a J Stevens 1915 .32 long - this is a rimfire, these were apparently popular before high velocity .22 long displaced it. Discontinued in 1940’s I think or thereabouts. Not in great shape and as I understand it the cartridges have not been made since the 70’s so this will be a decoration only.
for a moment, in the dark before I picked it up, I thought I was looking at an old BB gun - was really shocked to find out that it was a fire arm and then realize that it was pretty old and not a 22.
I was in a hurry dealing with some contractors when I found it, so I only took pictures of the details and did not get one of the entire gun.

Too bad no one makes .32 rimfire cartridges. Apparently there are lots of old 32s out there getting neglected. From what I read this was a medium range small animal pesting rifle at about 180 fpe

That was definitely a great find.
My uncle found an early Benjamin 312 in the house he moved into, but it's in pretty rough shape and needs the barrel soldered back on.

It was someone's pride and joy, once.
If you want to shoot it, you can convert the .32 Rimfire to 32-20 WCF:
First question is what is the bore like? If it is bad, you could reline it:

Put in a barrel liner such as a TJ's and rechamber to a doable cartridge.

I thought that the 32 Long/Short Colt centerfire cartridges was a substitute for the Long/Short rimfire cases, only a different firing pin position was needed.
Are they also obsolete?
Edit:
32 SC at least seems to be available

I passed on my 32 rim fire to my cousin, and 3 1/2 boxes of cartridges, It was taken from my grand father, by my father and replaced with a Daisy 922, on my recommendation, when the city LEOs were called when he was dispatching rabbits in traps with it.

I like the idea of putting in a 22 liner or perhaps converting it to 32-20. I have no idea how the barrel is set up and if it has a removable or replaceable liner, but I will take a closer look when I’m back at the house.
Appreciate all of the helpful comments.

Congrats! Someone sure had a lot of good memories with that gun I bet. Looks good!
My uncle had a old J Stevens 12ga like that from 1913 if I remember right and it still shot too so I fired a few light target shells through it.
