How do you carry your tanks?

I found this. For less than a tin of pellets, it's worth a try. It has "feet" so the tank won't roll.

I cascade three 44cf scba bottles.
I made my carrier from a single piece of 2" pink foam board and a large roll of duct tape.
I cut 2/3rds of the board into 1x2' sections, one I left intact, the other I cut three 5.75 holes equally spaced, then I assembled it with the solid piece on the bottom and the rest stacked up to cover the tanks.
I have enough to make a sturdy lid to protect the valves in case of a car crash going to and from hunting.
The entire container is homely, but weighs far less than one scba tank.
Total cost was below $25.00.

A Lot!
The Booster is $400.00. The regulator on it was $271. THe cascade system I made myself from parts I ordered from
www.northshorecopresor.com
and I bought the tanks off Ebay for about 100 bucks each, because they are at the end of their hydro, but I fill them with the Shoebox, which was $400. when I bought it but now $500.00 I hear. On the tanks, I don't worry about the hydro and the fact they are in very good condition. Hoses I got from various places, Joe Brancato and RlAirguns mostly.
All together I must have $1500. in everything.
I built it all up to run my Ranger 45 and sold off most of my air gun collection to buy the stuff.
In the end I ended up with a 25 Condor doing 120 FPE with cast bullets, a Ranger 45 doing 600 FPE again with my cast bullets, and a little AA S410 Carbine that I buy pellets for.
A lot of money , but I like to be independent.

I hate to keep harping about the safety aspect of HPA.... but if
"they are at the end of their hydro"
how do you know they are in good condition?.... Are the tanks still within their 15 year lifespan?.... I realize it's only your life on the line, assuming you live alone.... but is saving a few bucks on hyrdostatic testing really worth the risk on a $1500 setup?.... I would hate to see others take on such a cavalier attitude because they don't realize the dangers involved....

In a way I agree with Bob. There's a shelf life for a reason. The 15 year is set by the DOT and I have HEARD that they may be changing that requrement. But I have found no proof of it YET. My understanding is the CF cylinder actually hasn't been out long enough to establish a TRUE life expectancy.
There is a 30 year SCBA cylinder made by SCI.
http://www.scifireandsafety.com/products/30year.asp
It's MUCH better to go safest, not cheapest. I personally have a steel SCBA that does not have a shelf life. But I have it looked at very carefully when I have it filled.
But Bob is right. For NOW, stick by the fedeal requirements to stay safe.
Happy Shooting!!!!

In europe those same tanks have a 30 year life, it a figure that the feds came up with basedon nothing.
You do as you wish with your tanks, I will do as I wish with mine.
The sky truely is not falling on this issue.
On scba tanks, other than one fireman exposing his scba tank to corrosive elements, there are no accidents that have happened.

I use them straps on my steel 3420 and carrying them side ways with handle does seem to make them feel lighter, worth every penny.

A steel 3300-3400psi tank (I am assuming 100cu.ft?) weighs at least 40-45lbs, or 50lbs filled. No matter how you carry that, short of being on wheels, it is not going to feel light.
The carry-on strap works better I think with the much lighter Carbon Fiber 4500 tanks. CF tanks are about 1/4 the weight of Scuba tanks. I just want to free up one of my hands when I carry it from/to the Dive shop, so I can open a door, etc. I don't realy take my tanks anywhere else. If I am away and need to take more shots, I carry an extra Air Force (gun) tank for my Condors which you can throw into any backpack. That is the beauty of removable gun tanks. You can bring spares with you to the field, or a smaller buddy bottle/Scuba.
