Using thermal monocular for spotting game

People have hunted without a thermal imaging for ages but I was wondering how effective is a thermal monocular at scouting and then stalking prey? I've read that the Leupold LTO Tracker HD Thermal Viewer can detect rabbits around 150 yards or more.
I would be hunting during the day. Let's say I detect some heat from an animal a hundred meters away just by scanning down into a valley. Is it practical then to stalk it as in lay low and get closer for a shot. I would know where the game is at in the forest I would just have to aim with my scope at the general direction of where I picked up the heat signatures to pinpoint it.
I know a lot of people have success on farms, forest edges, or thicket between fields. Without a dog it can be difficult to stir up game and its not like I could take a shot at a running rabbit or want to go through bramble. I stirred up a grouse a month ago and I almost got a good shot on it but it took off. Had I been able to detect it with a thermal imaging device I would have been able to creep on it more carefully...

if it helps you get game and if it's not against the hunting laws of your state, I say "go for it".

kikko, like Kevin said! I believe you are correct in your thinking and a thermal image will give you a heads up to know where your quarry or other is and that will help you hunt smarter.

It won't do much good if they are hunkered down deep in the grass/brush pile, but it might be effective if they are out along an edge where you could spot a piece of them; ie an ear, top of the head, etc. It would take some practice to differentiate the target from the background especially on warm days. We know they work great at night when the game is out in the open.
