Almost forgot about the 922...

Always had a soft-spot for the 880 platform. My first pellet gun. Back in the '70s I literally shot mine to pieces (well, until the plastic stock broke and it stopped holding).
Dug out my old 922 today, wooden furniture, metal receiver... I replaced that silly plastic pump arm with a good metal one. Only use the 1-shot adapter on it, not a big fan of those 'harmonica' clips.
A powerhouse it ain't, just north of 500 fps, but dayum! Daisy put good barrels on these.. Just a brass tube, but it really stacks 'em @ 25. Maybe the most accurate rifle I own.
I think I'll be using it for guard duty on the feeder, in the morning. Be squirrel and dumplings for dinner!

Brass barrel, huh? Mine has a steel one. Never knew they made one in brass.

Just like you, I too had a Daisy multi pump as a kid some 40+ years ago that I shot to pieces, broken plastic stock.
I need to do my homework because I assumed it was an 880 but now because of your post I am starting to wonder what it really was. I had no idea there were so many variants!
All this time I could have sworn it was a .22 not a .177, it had the white / black "inlaid" diamond on the fore arm and fancy engraving on the receiver.
Now I see Daisy offered wood variants! Need to keep my eyes peeled for a 22X , a 922, or 970.
Until today I did not know they existed

I have a 22SG with fiber optic sights, wood stock, metal receiver, and plastic pump arm. It's too new to be vintage, but it's a quality build of a classic design. It's really easy to pump, quiet to shoot, and has very good accuracy. It's a keeper.

I have an 822. I put wood furniture on that I picked off Fleabay. (at this point it is a 22SG) That's my go to solution to starlings @ the feeder. Real accurate. Definitely not a powerhouse. But 520 fps on ten pumps is consistent and more than enough for a starling at twenty yards.... or a tree rat for that matter.

So what is the difference in your 822 the way it was originally and the 922?

Wellllllll. The 922 was produced in the late 70's -late 80's and my 822 was made in the early 2000's so some of the cosmetics will be different. Metal vs plastic pump handle, fiber optic vs traditional front sights, and the like. The insides will be very similar and the power will be very similar. I like the weight and the feel of the early all metal versions of the D .22 880 platform guns but wood furniture makes a bigger difference for me. Can't help it. I think a 880/822/922 with wood is a real pretty gun.
