Good Old Boys match February 23, 2013
Posted for Pat O'brien

Saturday turned out to be a great day for FT in middle Tennessee. It was a little cool early, but warmed up some as the day went on. At least, it was dry for a change. We had a pretty good turn out with 10 shooters and one visitor that we hope will be back. There was a real mixture of competitors with Roz Sumpter taking the top spot overall and in PCP with his TM1000, Nikko 10-50 scope and JSB 10.3s and a score of 51/60 on a pretty tough course. He had changed last years Tennessee championship course a little and had 15 lanes with two targets each and two shots at each for a total score of 60. Dont know where he got it, but he had one lane with a ¼ KZ at about 12 yardsjust for the fun of it.

Tyler from up in KY. Picked up 2nd place in PCP with a score of 43/60 using his Steyr, BSA 10-50 scope and CPH pellets. I  had a great time, though not so good a score shooting with Roz. I used the USFT, Nikko 10-50 and JSB 10.3s and ended up with a score of 34/60 for 3rd place in PCP.

Harold Rushton was tops in WFTF PCP with a score of 45/60 using his Steyr LG100, Leupold 35X and JSB 8.4 pellets.

David Slade picked up a score of 40/60 in WFTF using a beautiful Ripley, B & L 6-24 scope and CPL pellets.

Steve Vines had a score of 33/60 in WFTF Piston class with another nice TX200, Elite 6-24 scope and JSB Express pellets. This rifle has to have as nice a piece of wood as there is around.  The boy in Alabama sure outdid himself when he carved that one.

Everybody was glad to see Brad Troyer made it back. Brad had a score of 44/60 in Piston class using an HW97, B & L 8-332 scope and CPLs. David Airey used an HW98, Vortex 6-18 scope and H & N pellets for a score of 27/60.

In the hunter class, Larry Cleveland was 1st place and had a score of 42/60 with a new S500, Hawke 3-14 scope and CPH pellets.  Gary Law had a score of 34/60 with another fairly new S500, Hawke scope and JSB 8.4 pellets.

Several of the shooters from around this area are headed to the big T next weekend for a big match. Heres wishing them a lot of luck and they will probably need it. The competition should be hot.

Not sure when our next match will be, but David Slade will be cranking up over at Invicta at Minor HillTennessee the 4th weekend in March.
