Title: My latest purchase on Ebay was a Crosman 150 Type 1 in decent shape.
Post by: Wayne52 on January 20, 2019, 04:20:23 AM
It was one of those buy it now deals, I took a quick scan of it on Ebay when I seen it. It was buy it now for $79.95 and shipping was $7.95, when I bought it I thought it probably had a stripped out thread where the rear of the trigger group mounts to it but I lucked out because someone had assmebled the thing wrong with the wrong screws in the wrong place.  I did chase the threads because I could see where it had been abused and I ran the screw through a die.  I put the valve poppet/stem in some oil I got with a rebuild kit that I used on my first one and let it soak in there until the o rings came in, I bought those from the o ring store with enough to do a few more guns if I wanted for $13.95 so I figure for right around $100 and some elbow grease I managed to get her going good.  I was especially happy to have the poppet/stem work on it too because I was kind of skeptical if it would work or not.  Oil pretty much took all the surface rust off it pretty good but there were a couple of bad pitting areas but you really can't see them between the barrel and to where they're at.  On the tube cap there was a gasket that wasn't even supposed to be there so I took that out and while I had it apart I thought what the heck seeing how it looked out of place from the rest of the gun I did a quick oil blue on it and that turned out good as well and it didn't take long.  The hammer mecha was seized up so I cleaned that up and lubed the best I could.  Anyway after all was said and done I had a pretty decent looking and shooting pistol.  I did a youtube video shooting a target with it.

Here's a couple other pics of it since I blued the tube cap and cleaned her up good getting rid of as much rust as possible, heck this gun sure didn't need re-bluing but just a good cleaning up.

Here's a picture of a stamp on the tube I've never seen on another one, if anyone has seen one before or knows what it's for I'd appreciate any info they might have.

You can also see that I had cleaned up the tube cap but hadn't blued it yet.  I'll show an old picture of the tube along with it.

Every o ring on the gun was hard and had to be cracked out of the groves for removal, I polished up all the grooves also.

Really like the look of the type one with the two part barrel and breech?  As usual the longer airgun models are made the changes tend to be cost savings?

I like the looks of them too better than the type II, I have seen a few different kinds of valves in the four that I have.  I think the newest type II's have a brass valve in them, they're the ones that have a filter, spacer and one other washer in there too.  Both the type II's seem to have more power than the type ones.

How do you tell between type 1  and type 2?

I found one, I am looking real hard at, but not sure which type.

Don

On the type 1's the barrel and receiver are separate but on the type 2's it's all machined from the same piece.  Here's a fantastic five shot group I did about 45 minutes ago with my latest type 1 and my cast 19.5 grain pellets

What pellet mould do you have?

I've got quite a few molds but lately I've been using one of my newest molds for wad cutters.  I've been waiting for this mold for a while now and it's finally available now.
They seem to work really good in my Crosman pistols and other co2 guns.

You mentioned that you got the O rings for your rebuild from the "O ring store". Since I'm new here, I don't recognize that name. Could you please give me the contact information for them?
Thanks,
Rick W

Just type in "The O Ring Store" in a google search, it's easy to find.

I know its not hard to figure out the rings if you have the old ones, but for those times when the rings crumble when removed, why not list the o-rings required and save others the time to figure out the sizes.  Never thought about it being helpful to others to list the o-rings.

wayne,

check your PM.

Got the 150 in mail today.  It's a 1st variant with original twist power adjustment.

Still need to see if it holds CO@ or leaks.

No pictures yet, but the gun holds CO2 and shoots to point of aim in my shop.

Awesome!  Would be interested in Chrony numbers.  And if your twist velocity control works.
