Most magnum springers and gas rams are going to be anywhere from 40-50 pounds cocking effort and a Model 95 should be on the lower end of 40ish pounds to cock. If yours was taking almost 60 pounds of cocking effort, I'd have to think there's most definitely something wrong with the rifle as it shouldn't take that much force to break and cock the rifle.
