Well done! What did you use to "glue" the bushings into the stock? Mine also had a good trigger (for a Hatsan). Just a longer screw and it was great. I recently got the opportunity to swap my Webley trigger for my old Welsh Willy trigger group, done deal! As good as the stocker was, the Welsh Willy (with a Crosman sear spring) is just a bit lighter and smoother. I am planning to do a Piston seal comparo with the Webley, so there should be at least one other VMX post no one reads;)
Enjoying mine also , I kind of wish I had used it this weekend for the F/T shoot, guess the only reason I didn't was the fact that I am having a scope shortage
....Flexhone coated with moly paste as the honing medium which also helps burnish it into the inside of the tube. I know that just made the purists cringe and cuss me but it works for me, plus I'n not even remotely a professional tuner, I do this for me and me alone...lol....
Not sure exactly how a true pro tuner would burnish the moly into the tube or if they even do to be honest. They also wouldn't use a Flexhone, most as far as I know use brake cylinder hones with I think 400 grit stones on them but you'd be better off asking someone like Motorhead exactly what he uses.I decided to try the Flexhone after seeing a few youtube vids on gunsmiths using them for honing out gun barrels and figured I'd give it a try vs. what most shooters use which is usually 400 grit wet dry wrapped around a wooden dowel. Mine is a 1 inch, 400 grit silicone carbide and since part of the honing instructions was to use whatever lubricant you were going to use to lube the barrel, I used moly paste as the honing medium and at least as far as I can tell, it works pretty well, but like I said, I'm no pro, it's just the way I decided to go..lolHere's a link to the one I got and a link to the extension I had to get so it would reach the full length of the receiver if you're interested, but again, I'd suggested asking Motorhead, who is a GTA member and pro tuner about those brake hones and the right way to use them.Ok and will do. Thank you for sharing this and great job.https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/85740173?rItem=85740173
Been waiting for a set of back ordered scope mounts (Hawke 30mm Reach Forward mounts to fit the dovetails) to get here as the scope intended for the rifle is a 30mm etched glass BSA Tactical 3-12x44 SF Mildot and since those finally got here, I went and got some heat shrink to hold those RC bearings together and got the rifle and scope set up finally done. That shrink also helps cocking noise from those bearings rubbing inside the stock so an added bonus. Now the debate is whether to leave it in the VMX stock or swap it into one of 2 Edge stocks I have sitting here. 1 is original and currently being painted satin black, the other is the custom job I did quite awhile back when I was modding an Edge Vortex .177 which has since had the gas ram fried in it (totally my fault..I should NOT have cranked the pressure to 145...lol) and been scavenged for assorted parts so the stock has just been sitting in the corner collecting dust.Anyway, the now fully tuned and scoped VMX and pics of that custom Edge stock...now to go play and sight things in....
LOL Steve if you have the trigger group for that "spare" parts gun I would buy or trade it from you , (probably heard that before ha ha ). I put the VMX I gas rammed into a Camo striker stock I had extra. I made a roller for my other VMX out of delrin when I lost the black one that was in there, Been thinking of shortening the barrel on the other .20 about 4" for a carbine, it cocks easy enough now with the Crosman spring in it. Nice job on the stock, looks good.
