Smoked the Vevor

I had recently put a spare Vevor (YH) compressor in the frame of an MKII dual cylinder compressor and wired it through the auto shutoff. It worked great. Until this morning.
Apparently the last time I used it I didn't switch it off after an autostop.
They had our power turned off for a couple hours thing morning to replace the pole at the barn.
An hour or so after the power came back on I headed out to the shop. When I opened the shop door I heard something running and the shop was full of smoke.
When the power came on, so did the compressor. It ran for the better part of an hour with no water running through it. The bleed was open so it didn't build pressure. But it melted every seal in it.
I shut it down and disconnected it. Then I aired out the shop.
The motor runs and the pump did not seize. I had a fresh change of oil in it so that may have kept the bottom end good.
So, it goes on the "to be repaired" list. I know I have a couple reseal kits for it but I'm not sure how far gone it is.
Live and learn I guess.

 Bummer, one thing I do when done filling for the day is unplug the compressor. I have plugged them in to find they go back on with no pressure .
 I am awaiting a new filter stack for my Tuxing, the bleed off valve threads stripped out from it vibrating loose when new.

I usually have it plugged into a separate power strip the also turns the water pumps on. The water pumps running reminds me to turn the strip off. I was testing something and had moved the power plug to a wall outlet. Just dumb luck.
I still have the YH and the CS3 to fill guns but I do want to fix it.

Thats one of the things about the dark side that intimidates me.  Technology.  Thats exactly the kind of thing I would do straight away.  Hand pumps I can handle.  I’m a menace to anything that plugs into an electrical socket.  Of course I don’t own any bottle guns and I’m happy with twenty good shots per fill.  Y’all are in a completely different league than me.

 For the weekend warrior I recommend this compressor, it has a hole to put a couple drops of silicone oil into it every 10 fills. Do not use aerosol spray lubes with a straw in there, like I have seen reviewers do in the past.

Almost as bad as the time I had done an oil change on the YH, and figured I wait to refill the oil later.......and then never remembered to....until the next time I ran it for a refill, and it seized

I also ordered the ring style high side piston to replace the cone style that is in the compressor now.
Can't hardly find the replacement cones now and the ones I have on hand have gotten hard. I have them soaking in ATF but I don't think they are going to soften up.

I've got one similar to the one James posted. It was only about $160. Works great!

It would be fine for topping off, but to fill from empty, it would need to be done in segmented times.

Given the state of our relations with a certain Asian superpower I'd order two rebuild kits and any other odds and ends I might need PDQ.

 Bill re auto stop, mine does not have that, I Have in a pinch topped off a 90ci bottle from 2500 3500 a couple years ago.
