Not so quick & dirty pellet holder

I recently posted my cheap rifle holder solution to getting my gun knocked over. While I was in the problem fixing mode I went ahead and turned a pellet holder on the lathe.
The problem is the platform I use for a rest while shooting (a tablesaw outfeed table) has a slick nylon top for obvious reasons--mainly you want boards to slide over the surface as smoothly as possible.

Since it's light with an easy height adjustment it works great as a rest. The only problem is that tins of pellets slide around on it and as Murphy has dictated *open* tins of pellets slide more easily and further than tins with lids in place.
Most recently a newly opened $19 tin of H&N FTT's in .20 caliber slid off the rest with the pellets being scattered across the shop floor, which as the result of a recent job, had a nice thick coat of sawdust on it. Not good.
So this evening I searched through my scraps and found a 20 year old piece of teak that was cracked and of little value. A few minutes on the lathe and I had a shallow curved depression perfect for grabbing individual pellets. I flipped it and removed some of the base to allow some weight to be added. Teak is a very heavy wood but a piece this small still needed weight and I wanted it as low as possible.
I then epoxied some bird shot into the bottom and used contact cement to glue a circular section of grippy garden glove material to the bottom. Not my first choice of colors but my wife likes colorful gloves and it was this or pink
The end result is a pretty little nicely weighted pellet holder that does not slide *at all* on my rest.

Jdub...I think it looks sharp!
MUCH Better looking than the beanbag ashtray cup that I've used!

Thanks guys! It works really well--doesn't slide at all. It also turns out to be really nice for those tins with about 20 pellets left in them. I have a tough time fishing a single pellet out and usually just dump them in the lid and use that. This makes it really easy to grab single pellets and if you like nice wood it's just kind of pretty.

I recently glued two circles of rubber roofing together back to back, that are the size of JSB tins. I let them dry flat (with a JSB tin sitting on them).
The tins sit on top of my rubber "wafers", and the wafers don't clank or take up much room in my shooting bag.

Hey, Dub, very nice! Now make another one, put a flat center on it and a bit of a raised lip around it, send it to me.
That teak will stand up to the sweat from my martini glass!
