Rebuilt my B3 AK with a Maccari mainspring designed for the old BSA Meteor. (Removed a coupla’ coils).

Clocking 560+ w/ .22 Hobbies. Grouping around 1” @ 25 yds.

It's a .22 after all. Pellet snaps into the chamber...

Been awhile - I use to play, tweak, tune, mod on those. Yep Anthony that's about as hot as they got in .22 550-560ish fps MV with Hobbies and 500 or so with CPs.

Man... 560 in .22... I think I need to break open my B3-3 again lol.  If you can get that in .22 I wonder what I can get in .177... first I need to get mine shooting right though.

When living in WV years ago there was a "Cummins Truckload Sale" and I bought two B3s for $19.99 each with the idea of cobbling the two together into a good shooter by swapping the best parts.
Straight from the box both .177 B3s shot 8.4 grain JSB Exacts at 550fps. After assembling one B3 from the two, making a fitted Delrin spring guide for the factory spring, cleaning up the piston skirt and squaring the "face" on the lathe, replacing the fuzzy leather piston seal with a home turned oring sealed piston cap, making better fitting trigger pins, and kinking the trigger spring a bit to improve the trigger pull, I actually had a pretty good shooter that shot 8.4 grain exacts at 700fps using the factory spring.......

25 yard group using the factory iron sights...........

After stripping off the "irons" and mounting a 6x Burris Compact scope (scope cost several times more than both B3s) I shot this 25 yard group with the Exacts..........

That (those) B3s are "long gone", however it was a fun project. Actually, the B3 bores were "rough as a corn cob" so I was very surprised at the accuracy from that cheap under lever that looked like it was made using hammers and files! Here is an example of the fine butt pad fitting and gooped on "varnish?"..............

That pic of the butt pad reminds me of the first one I did.
Taking the goop varnish off anyway, I sanded it all down till it fit. lol

BTW,you did an outstanding job on yours!

Great project guns - almost anything will improve them.  I suppose it's possible to carry B3 mods to ridiculous lengths, but thankfully I'm immune that that malady.

No power mods, so still around 500 FPS.  I went for smoothness - fitted steel spring guide, thrust washers, new breech seals, deburring.  I kept the leather piston seal, but made the drag on the compression tube adjustable.  I shortened the barrel to the length of the cocking arm, and it made a world of difference.  It shot 1.5" groups at 10m out of the box, and now is down to about 3/8".  I polished the trigger parts and added shim washers against side play.  The trigger shoe also helps - it came from a Razor scooter.  The magazine holds 7 M&M's - I'm not sure if that's considered high capacity or not.

Afterwards I got another B3.  The plan was to leave it alone to have before/after examples, but you know how that goes.  It's still in factory condition, except for the squirrel rotisserie.

The Chinese B3 and the British STEN are both crudely made, right?  An iconic feature of the STEN is that stick magazine that sticks out sideways, out of the way of an underlever cocking arm.  So... (the world's single  largest concentration of super glue and JB weld).

Slavia... that b3 is the coolest in the planet. I love the stens and the b3, so that does it for me. what is the cocking handle for? is it functional?

That is the coolest B3 ever! I love British guns, and if I ever got to a place I could collect SMGs the STEN or Sterling would be the first. So that B3 hits the mark for me.

The cocking handle is totally fake.  It was a piece of junk in a box that looked like it needed to be there.  The select fire switch is likewise fake.  Except - when you hold the trigger back, the gun completely empties itself.  Full auto, right?  (Maybe with severely limited magazine capacity.)

I went thru the "B3-1 Experience" a good while back. Always got the .22s and eventually sold, gave away to family and friends. It seemed after lots of various springs,
tuning and tweaking the maxium power was 8ish to 9 FPE depending on pellet, elevation, etc. I was at 1200 feet and below above sea level. Hobbies at 550-570ish
fps MV and CPs at 500-525ish fps MV seemed to be as good as it gets. Of course there were the "fish stories" and those ignorant of detonating/damaging dieseling
posting stuff like I'm getting 675 fps with 14.3 gr. and so on..... LOL
