I've owned four discoveries and two Maximus'.I tune them and build them if you'd be interested in purchasing one of mine for less! Yes they are used, but I can tune them as good as the rest of them.I think if you purchased one from him you would be getting a disco the way it's supposed to be. They are fun guns out of he box, but need a lot of refining to make a great gun.I just tuned a disco for a friend using a homemade SSG. I can build a .177 or .22 totally up to you.If you are interested you can shoot me a pm, but here is a chrony string from the tune I performed two days ago.2000psi fill, refilled at 1250psi. Shooting 14.3gr pellets at a 1.44 efficiency rating. I do full trigger tune, lighter pull a two screw mod, polished/ lightened hammer, gauge block porting, SSG or adjustable power screw, second barrel band. Cheers!
I have one of his 177's with a power adjuster. Yes, he cleaned up the lead and recrowned the barrel, added the power adjuster and lightened the trigger pull with a better spring. When I got it, it was not tuned for shot count or power curve, had to do that myself by cutting about two coils off the stock spring, and setting the power adjuster for 30 shots at 19 fpe with AA10.34 gr pellets.
I had a MAC1 Disco when I first got into PCP’s and enjoyed it very much. I have since moved to other guns but the most important change to me was going from a pump to a tank to fill. It doubled my fun factor and a SCUBA tank is not that expensive used. Others will disagree with me though. I also want to second the suggestion of a LDC to quiet it down. Without one, they’re almost as noisy as a rimfire. Enjoy!
When Timmy Mac does one up, it's done "Right"! the Man has ton's of experience. He's forgotten more than most of us will ever know. Knife
