Same here Stuart.I am grateful to our elders for what they have contributed for our benefit.

They have had the most liberal indoctrination at our colleges and universities of any generation and when you question their ideas they get nasty and hostile . I have found many of them to be disrespectful even when your statements are well founded in fact.

And those parents, a product of theirs. This situation didn’t spring out of the ether... Many have observed a downward trend starting at least as far back as the end of World War 2.

It was ok to ask questions but eye rolls and sas mouth had severe consequences for me and my siblings. Today's college grads suffer from serious trash mouth and think nothing of dropping the "F" bomb in mixed company or around their parents.

There seems to be a correlation between the rising rates of multigenerational, single mother households; and the increasing prevalence of lack of respect for tradition, and authority. While not acceptable... Who’s really to blame? They were never taught, or shown by their parents. Nor were their own parents taught, and shown by their parents. For most of these millennials their father figure is big daddy Gubmint. In households with fathers; seldom were the rules and strictures a voting issue. But alas... Here we are...
I'm an Earth Science teacher to 9th graders. Every once in a great while I do a little preaching. Always I model polite behavior and the ability to disagree without being so disagreeable. I've been at it for 24 years. I have noticed a huge difference in kid's behavior. It coincides with the advent of universal use of social media. I don't believe in coincidents. I also grew up the son of a WWII vet. He was on the USS Indiana in the South Pacific. By the time I was 10 I was chopping wood, lighting the stove, mowing the lawn, etc, etc, etc. I grew up in Southern VT and was well prepared for the trials of adulthood, home ownership and the like. My three sons never learned to do any of that. They grew up in Southeastern NY. They went on "play dates" and collected trophies for nothing more than participating. They learned respect but are no where near as prepared for adulthood as I was. Who's fault is that? I look at him every morning......and I am not alone.
