Disco Foster Fitting Thread
«
on:
March 20, 2019, 10:31:42 PM »
My LDC interferes with fitting the Foster to fill the gun.
A 30 or 45 degree elbow should solve the problem IF I can find the proper thread and one made like a Street el.
Someone did this and posted it way back when and now I can not find a link to where the parts/procedure was explained.
Anyone have any ideas?

The Foster fitting has 1/8"-NPT threads.... standard 1/8" tapered pipe.... Get a hydraulic fitting to insure sufficient strength....

Jeff,
I have been looking at that cap. Does the 45 degree fill point "index" or is it just the luck on the thread cut that it is pointing down when tight?

Mine pointed down but I've heard others say they had one that did not. A very thin shim washer fixes that issue.
They are well worth the price!

Since pipe threads are tapered, you should be able to have the 45 deg. Street "L" tighten up in the downward position.... It may be just tight enough to seal with the Teflon tape on the threads, or may be quite tight.... Instead of installing it on the fill plug tight and then hoping it is pointing down when you reinstall the fill plug in the tube.... mark the fill plug on the bottom before removing it from the tube, and then tighten the 45 deg. Street "L" to that position in the fill plug....

Sorry Bob, I was referring to the position of the 45 on the end cap Jeff linked to itself... and the lower tube threads on that are not NPT... In place of a 90 degree Street L that was suggested. Kinda derailed the topic, but not really if it helps the OP choose what to use.

Ahhhhhhhhhh…. got it !!!
You can simply set that front cap with the 45 deg. face downwards, even if there is a slight gap at the end of the tube.... There is tons of thread engagement to lose up to 1 turn.... and once the pressure is on the O-ring there is no way you will be able to turn the end plug, it will hold its orientation just fine....

Dang the part from Baker Air Guns would certainly look better.
So now the question is, do I go with some sort of elbow and have it look a little bit "cobbled" together.
Need to find a good SS tubing and fittings provider and see what I can muster up and consider it.
It has developed a slow leak due to not using it and so I guess a tear down and reseal is in order and I will do it all when I do any of it.

Hoosier Daddy and Jeff aka Privateer
Thanks for the pictures it "explains the part and how it will look all so well.
It does bring to mid another question, where can one find a slipover cover for the male Foster fitting, even something as simple as that on the Gauntlet. smaller that the standard on the Disco?

I have discovered tire stem valve stem caps will slip over the male foster also.
