TX200 MK III failure - trigger will not set
«

Hello to all,
I need suggestions/advise….. I was shooting my TX200 MK III (mfg. date 3/24/2014) and the auto safety stopped resetting unless I pulled very hard on the cocking lever. The next day I got 1 shot out of it and then the trigger would not set. When I cock it the bear trap holds the sliding chamber open but the side release will not let me return the underlever. I can de-cock it by pulling the lever down and then pushing the side release but the sear does not set. Any ideas? I figure it’s a broken sear. What would the fix involve?

Your cocking shoe may have cracked or broken. This can prevent the piston latching rod from going far enough to latch the sear. This, of course, would also prevent the safety from engaging. Guns under 12 fpe rarely see this happen. The cocking shoe is sintered metal, not a machined piece, so it is prone to failure. Checking the gun out will require disassembly. While in the process do not put ANY pressure on the front stock support bracket. It's made of soft aluminum and very thin in a couple of locations. (Don't ask.)

Tx is Ez peasy to disassemble. Hope the gun is not cocked. Lots of utube vids to help you. Parts available from p. air headquarters , chamber air gun spares. Doubt if the trigger is bad. Did you try to adjust it by chance?

Duckfish,
It is not cocked or loaded, I pushed the pellet back out after it would not fire. No trigger adjustments have been made.
I did tighten all the stock screws and the the 2 trigger guard screws, but not the trigger adjustment screw.

They are dirt simple to take apart. My MK3 had just the tip of the spring break off not long after buying it almost 20 years ago. The chip of spring caused all
kinds of spring issues as it move around. Safety stopped working, then worked, then trigger failed.
After taking it apart I found the small piece.
Same rifle also snapped the safety clean in two. Also had the end of the cocking arm come lose and not engage the detent ball.
Tuned it down to 12 ftlb and has been flawless ever since.

If the shoe is bad, see if you can source one from Air Rifle Headquarters.

Could be the sear return spring snapped. This happened to two of my trigger units. part # CS265. It pulls the top sear and middle sear together. As posted above, very easy to work on to find out if it's the spring or other components. Pull the trigger unit off the action. Pop out the top sear pivot bearing. Inspect for damage to the top sear or the return spring.

It is likely that your TX is not fully cocked, if you cannot close the action by pressing the release lever. The ratchet can hold the action open when you are a click away from total engagement.
Cock the rifle and try to close the action. If it does not close - pull the lever back again. You should hear another click indicating full engagement and the action should now close.
