I found this video, and performed this slight modification to a .25 caliber hoppes bore snake. I doubt the steel on my Airforce Lothar Walther barrel is what you would consider "soft" but i'd rather not take the chances.
Took all of two minutes. pulled it through 3x tonight with a little hoppes #9 on the tip of it... Spotless shiny bore. I am impressed!

Yep it works very well. I also done the bore snake trick but for .177 & .22.

I stuffed three q-tips down the bore of my 1377 and then shot them out.

;) Removing the brass brush from the Hopps bore snake works quite well I did it for .22, .177 & .25 they work very well Just did my TX200 yesterday the accuracy became less than optimum after 1500 pellets down the barrel so clean with bore snake and I have my .22 driving tacks again ;D ;D

I will most likely get in hot water , but that's nothing new to me . I have three very fine shooting rifles . However in order to keep them shooting well I pushed thru and pulled back three times a brass brush . I tried all the other suggested ways of cleaning my rifles with little or no results . I have a Crosman .22cal Nitro Venom , a .177 cal. Crosman Storm XT , and a .177 cal. Stoeger X5 . All have over 7,000 pellets thru , with the .22 at 13,000 plus . Accuracy fell of at around 10,000 in the 22 and 5 and 6,000 with the others . after all kthe cleaning and even changing the kind of pellets nothing worked till I ran the brasses brush thru. The two .177's are still ok , but the 22 needed the brush at 12,500 and is still ok . I know this post will get me a lot of slack , but I'm just letting you all know of what happened with me . Why would you need to remove the brass? Brass is WAY softer than steel. That's why it is used to clean steel tooling (molds, dies, etc). It can't easily damage the steel. At work we clean plastic extrusion screws with brass wire wheels at 10k RPMs Doesn't do any damage to the screws. We don't permit any steel tools on our shop floor because it would be too easy for someone to damage the tools with it. There are only brass scrapers, pliers, screw drivers, etc. I can't imagine that a bore snake with some brass on it would do anything to a rifle barrel, other than pull out the softer lead from the grooves.

I use the brass brushes from time to time. My LGV barrel likes it. The crosman barrels and Lothar Walther barrels don't seem to benefit from it. Go figure.
The Challenger just stopped grouping like it did when it was new and pulling patches didn't help.
I finally used some lead remover and a brass brush,got the idea from this forum. Blew me away how accurate it was after that treatment. Now I do it every 200 rounds or so on that rifle,the other guns don't need it,but they have never been as accurate as that Walther barrel.
Love that LGV can you tell? ;)

Some rifles such as Marauders have a breech o-ring that easily gets damaged or dislodged dragging a brass brush across them :P .... Otherwise am VERY pro-brush in AG barrels ;D
