5:11 AM, do you know where your rat is? I heard it before I saw it, "Feed Me!".
Took me forever to line up this shot. Turns out I had computer glasses on yesterday and didn't realize it. It would explain why every thing was fuzzy yesterday and why this morning my scope was fuzzy with my normal glasses on. Oh the stress of not seeing reticle when you have a fatty in sight. Anywho, shot went in neck and traveled most of the length of the body and exited back.
No blood!

That is the invasive black rat, aka roof rat, ship rat or Rattus Rattus. Don't be fooled by the color or it's cuteness. This varmint will inhabit your house and they are hard to get rid of. But they fear me as I am the Grim Reaper of the backyard, and they holler to each other when they spot me. These are the rats that carry the Black Plague.
I am using the .25 JSB Exact King Heavy MK2 33.95 grain. Complete overkill, but the Sumatra loves these pellets. Sumatra Powerwheel set to 4 clicks above lowest setting.
I see the Rat, the Rat sees me, I shoot the Rat, and the Rat sees squat!

Nice shot on that TyrannoRatus-Rex!
No rat is walking away from a Sumatra. Try .25 Polymags too. It will probably take their head off with enough power which your Sumatra should have. I shot a squirrel with 26gr Polymag using one of my .25 Condors dialed in with "low power" @ 65-66fpe before they went supersonic. It took the top half of the squirrel's head off. I then posted the pic and started a poll here to see if people could guess which pellet did that much damage

Big Rattus down! too bad no backstop here, I like to see them fly against it, great shot , Steve.
Computer glasses?
I use those too, and make the same mistake you did all the time, trying to line up the eye, scope and target in the dark with the wrong glasses is impossible, but by now I have developed this habit of quickly double checking my glasses when the ding donger goes off and I move over to the window from the PC for the shot. Missed many rats because I couldn't figure out in time why I can't see the target and the Rat was gone by then,so many details we need to work out to shoot a Rat, but that's why it is fun, because is not that easy.
