Title: Is the Crosman 400 especially the 180 embellished?

Was the 400 based on the 180 mechanisms but added a longer CO2 tube and the repeating mechanism?

Yep.

I have a crusty 400 action and a 180 with quite a bit of "patina" lol. if I ever get around to it I'm going to refinish everything, chop the 400's barrel and make a 180/400 carbine.
