Well that stinks, I have almost had the same thing happen but my plastcic bench intercepted the fall.Friday I was not so lucky. i was upstate at my cousins for opening day of firearms buck season (Saturday). These guys know alot about PBs but nothing of adult airguns so i always take a few with me to let them handle and shoot. This time I had my AEA Challenger bullpup 357 and my 22 PP750. I pulled out the Challenger and handed it to my uncle, i believe he is in his early 70s. He commented how heavy it is. He shouldered it a bit awdwardly, brought it back down and proceeded to let it roll out of his grip and crash to his gravel driveway muzzle first about three feet from where he stood. We both stood there in disbelief. I picked it up and the shroud cap took the brunt of the fall which was not straight down but on something like a 45 degree angle. the second point of impact was I believe the side focus knob of the scope. I did not see any other damage, It was getting dark and we had to head up to the cabin. I did not look at it again, i was afraid to, until a few minutes ago and i found about a half dozen or so dings on the stock. The shroud cap has some damage but not bad and the scope knob is not bad at all so it may not have been the second impact point.I will have to see how it shoots, which it is my one airgun i cannot shoot in my backyard so it will have to wait.. If I hurt the scope I can replace it, the shroud cap will get a can adapter anyway and the stock, I can somewhat camoflage so not too concerned, Definitely not thrilled though. The good news is i have not been happy with the accuracy of this gun and just maybe the drop will make it shoot better.
as the others said, the barrel is probably fine, the shroud and end cap you can get at PA, you might check to see if there are any after market Baffles to make it quieter or order new ones from PAor maybe Motorhead can help
I sure hate that it happened to you. I had my Gamo Urban take a tumble off of a rest and hit the ground from about the same height. Thank goodness it didn't damage it.
I feel your pain, guys. I dropped my AEA carbine off a camp chair on concrete last spring. Have a close inspection and tested it. Scope and bolt took the hit but only had to adjust 4 clicks on the scope to get it shooting right. The scars are glory marks now.
DJ,That barrel looks pretty strong. Try shooting it without the baffles and endcap. If it shoots straight, then new baffels and endcap, maybe a new shroud. It looks like the barrel band has rotated a bit. Just center it up before trying to put new baffels back into the shroud.Hunter
Glad to hear you got things rolling on repairs, good luck to you and get rid of that work bench thing and make a real shooting table, to keep things from falling off and costing you precious time, money and Rifles....
Dj I had a mishap with my 25 cal semi carbine last year, I had forgotten to zip up the case and as I started to put it behind the seat the gun slid out on to the stabilizer parking lot, I was really worried so I did a test shot and allwas good, I was really worried that I might have damaged it but it only scratched it in a couple spots. That thing hit hard when it fell and that really gained my trust in just how well the AEA's are put together. For being aninexpensive China built gun I think that AEA is one of the best IMO.
