Many flaws/ variables in that test, Huma did seem quieter,, and I wondered about givimg higher power guns some room to breath and reduce turbulance. Bummer he shot it before further testing LOL PS were not all so fast to judge in WI LOL
He was wearing a Donny FL t-shirt
But the fact that these are modular just seems awesome! People always like Lego guns why not Lego Moderators? Idk I really like the idea and the fact that depending on different tunes can make it longer or shorter to suit my needs makes me happy. But the air causing that much velocity variations in the Chrony string really? I just don't see that being the case and rather a very slight clipping issue would make more sense.
There is a lot going on with LDC reduction of report, to reduce it to a singular db value is a gross simplification.Simple equipment cannot accurately measure the high amplitude spike, it is a very short high amplitude event, common equipment just shows it as a single spike, tiny shifts of mic position can make big measurement differences. For me changing the tenor of report can make it seem more quiet even though it may be measuring with a higher db. Like choo instead of crack. Internal volume seems to be one of the greatest factors, as well as retention/baffles, followed by deadening. This seems to match Huma's strategy of keeping first chamber empty, deadening in second chamber for higher powered air-guns.Either way I trust my ears before the overwhelmed, under sampling, grossly inconsistant equipment. I have owned 3 dedicated digital sound meters, all great for tuning AV equipment and terrible for LDC measurement.
My DIY efforts aren't refined, don't look great and the ones that are REALLY QUIET add 9.5 inches. However, they are very quiet, don't affect accuracy and I can outfit at least 4 AGs for under $20.
I bet that gun is REALLY QUIET with that long of an LDC on there I will absolutely continue to recommend the Huma LDCs to everyone that will listen. I feel like they made that moderator just for me, because I've been wondering why someone didn't make one that was modular like, and still very effective. You really can't ask for much more imo.
