Excellent looking groups , obviously a great tune by Motorhead.
Hey Royale,Beautiful gun, nice groups
Roger,I couldn't agree more! It takes a professional tuner to take a gun for very good to GREAT.I thought most 10meter target guns shot in the high 400's, low 500's. Is you gun hotrodded for longer shooting?Sweetness,Yogi
I have used mine in my hunter field target matches a few times just for fun off a bogpod bipod.. It is hot rodded a little with a macarri artic spring and new breech seal and buffer from FWB. Its shooting 8.44s at 605/610 and 7.87s at 650fps. It was a fun challenge to hit the targets out past 40 yards consistently but I did hit several in the 45 to 55 yard range and it even had enough energy left to drop the targets. 40 yards and in was easy if I did my part in holding the gun in the bipod. They are very capable of 45 yard shots all day long. I have took many a squirrel at 30 to 40 yards with head shots.I love my 2 fwb 300sMike
I tested my 2 when I first got them and they were shooting right about where yours is now. I then installed the artic spring in my junior to compare shot cycles and found little to noticeable difference in shot cycle between them and no significant difference in POI other than the junior was a bit flatter shooting. Still both one hole groups at 25 yards if I do my part from a bench rest. The artic spring is close to the same wire diameter and about one coil longer if a recall correctly. I did buy a spring from Tom at vortek that was .005" thicker and one coil longer than the artic spring. I was rewarded with a very harsh shot cycle with no gain in fps at all. it was clearly over sprung so out it came and in went the artic spring. I believe the artic spring is the max that can be used with no change in accuracy or smoothness of the shot cycle. I did play with an o ring in place of the steel ring with no real fps gain or improvements even though it appeared to seal much better statically than the steel ring. The o ring did not allow for the piston to be moved by hand more than about 1/2" with breech port plugged with a finger where as the steel ring could be pushed all the way one way or the other with only slight resistance at a fast cycle. I think even though the o ring seal better it also creates more friction which slows the piston down to much limiting the fps gain. At the velocity the spring pushes the piston forward when fired the steel ring seals as well as the o ring but without the added friction or drag from the o ring. Mike
Roger,The likely reason for the speed difference .... 1500 feet in elevation difference As an FYI, this gun is using the 2 counter wound main springs. We manufactured a far better fitting Connector/Guide along with a Delrin over sleeve fitted to the OEM fixed spring guide.Together the spring movement was limited to only lineal with all lateral motion removed. Shot cycle ends up far better than the factory guns or those rebuilt to factory specs. New Breech seal & Buffer with attention paid to correct lubrication and a once great gun is transformed into a simply stellar one !Yes, your 300 will be shooting years from now ... It's wear & tear of near 40 years is minimal
Scott knows his stuff even if he is a old coot, sharp as a tack he is. David
That Old Coot was the National Hunter Class Field Target Champion in 2018.He can defend that title any time.300s can shoot one hole groups all the time. The FWB barrels are well known for their accuracy and, not being a break-barrel, assures that accuracy. My 300S shoots the exact same speeds as the OP.I shot a target off the bench at 18 yards with rear peep and front aperture. The top hole was the first shot. Then I lowered the rear sight one click and shot four more...
