As a new entrant to the air rifle world, researching the rifles that I had to choose from, It soon became apparent that the trigger played a large part in the their accuracy. Reviews showed that a lot of the rifles I had been considering, could be improved significantly, by installing a GRT-III trigger. Although a Ruger Air Hawk won out as my first air rifle, (because of a great 2 day sale at the gun shop, and a confidence that I could get someone to perform the 2nd screw mod on the trigger), I still want to upgrade to the GRT and CBR triggers when I get future rifles. There have been a couple of Stoeger X20s' to have caught my eye this week, and I have been calculating that I could get a GRT-III within 6 weeks. Now I've just chanced upon some quite disheartening news, that for the foreseeable future, I will not be able to obtain said trigger. This indeed is a disappointment. You'd think with all the new Free Trade Agreements it would be easier to buy from the US, not harder. The international courier services have become reliable and reasonably quick, but international trade is still stifled by fees, taxes, and process. But to the issue at hand, how to get GRT-III triggers in the future- Is it possible that one of the full time shops trading internationally could offer the triggers. Flying Dragon, Pyramyd air, Vortek ?- If we could organize a buying group, or could convince someone to order in multiples, how many triggers ordered would it take to counter act the new paperwork and fees. Perhaps a local air rifle dealer/shop would be able to order enough.- Can a license to manufacture be obtained.- Is there anyone heading over to New Zealand who could bring a couple over for me.- There must be something that can be done If something can't be done, this is truly a loss to many of us outside of the US.
Michael,You could pay someone to buy one on this side of the border and then ship it to you, if you were willing to pay the extra shipping costs...Quote from: michaelsr on July 16, 2013, 12:25:55 PM As a new entrant to the air rifle world, researching the rifles that I had to choose from, It soon became apparent that the trigger played a large part in the their accuracy. As long as its stated it's for an air rifle not a fire arm NZ Post should carry it.My QB79 was carried by them after it cleared customs.
I went into our local Hunting and Fishing store to see if they could get me a .22 barrel for my Air Hawk
That does sound promising, is that US or NZ customs, who did the sending, I think it's the sending from another country that's their concern (airlines and shipping), not the actual couriering within NZ
