Thanks for the help guys. This barrel is from the RAW that Martin built for me, so it's straight from him, and he had to order the barrel straight from LW, since he was out of.177cal barrels. One of the reasons I am asking about this is because the rifle shoots good but not great. I get 1 - 1-1/4" groups at 50 yards, whereas I was expecting closer to 1/2".Honestly, the crown looks poor to me too. But I've never had a poly barrel so I wasn't sure what to expect. I can't reach the crown to touch it up because Martin glues on an endpiece. I'm going to polish the barrel this weekend in hopes of improving groups. I'll post an update after I do.Thanks for the help!
Seems to me if a person is buying a rifle of that price range they should expect a lot more for their money. Is Martin aware of the problem?
A crisp transition at the bore->crown isn’t strictly required, but let’s just say you better know what you are doing if you want to develop a soft transition. The nature of applying a polished radius generally involves the use of a compressible mop or pad, and that introduces the opportunity to create an irregular bell mouth…thus opportunity for an asymmetric release of gas as the pellet emerges into the world. Having said that, in this particular case I’m less concerned about an irregular bell mouth than I am the pitting and dings that exist right at the transition. That sort of thing should have been removed with a facing cut or some other means before any crowning operations were performed.
Zack, I’m glad you have been and are in contact with Martin as I know he will make it right! A friend had purchased 2 LRT’s within a month of each other, one was from the Texas factory but was built in TN, the TN model had a couple of odd issues that like you my friend sent photos....Martin said that didn’t make sense and to send it to him and he made it RIGHT.

He confirmed that the crown is how it's supposed to be. He said that it was rotary polished to remove the sharp edges. He also gave me another tip to slow the rifle down just a bit. I did just what he told me and the rifle is now shooting much better! It still begins to lose accuracy right at about 50 shots. The JB Bore bright arrives tomorrow. I'm going to hit the bore with some JB Bore paste according to Rsterne's instructions, and then follow up with the Bore Bright using the same method. I'm hoping this will help. I'm planning on pushing the VFG pellets all the way past the crown, since the crown is rounded anyway. Is there any reason why I shouldn't?Thanks!

Smear a tight fitting patch with JB Bore and add a few drops of oil. Starting from the breech end if at all possible run the patch full length once. Do not let the patch leave the muzzle. Set up a stop in front of the muzzle. (I position the barrel almost against the wall by securing it in a rotating vise)
