Title: local benchrest matches
Post by: s500 on March 27, 2014, 07:17:00 AM
How many people in texas would shoot in local benchrest matches if they were available? I know that it is hard to find people near me that shoots airguns. So I thought this might be a way to help people meet other people that were interested. Please put your general location, closest town ect., type of gun(pump, pcp, ect.), and how far you are willing to travel. This way people will be able to locate others and maybe set up local matches in their area. Then maybe we can have a state match later on. Let me know what you think.

Madisonville is out of the distance for most people. But some of you in the most populated areas get a match going I will come to it. As long as I don't have to drive in Houston traffic, haha. This thread is for getting local matches in all areas of Texas, not just Madisonville,tx.

Depends on what class you shoot. I think the Hunter class has a 20FPE limit. Check the rules here and you can find match dates there to.

Hmmm, seems like there is not much interest in promoting airgun matches here in texas. I guess it may just take time for airguns to catch on here. I have to admit that I never even thought about getting an airgun till a couple of months ago. I always had 22's though. I love my air rifle though because I can even shoot it in my back yard. And I donnt have trouble finding ammo. Its also cheaper to shoot after you get all the equipment.

I know there is more than just the FT matches in Texas. Bayou Rifles in Houston is hosting the 2014 TEXAS NATIONALS
AIR RIFLE SILHOUETTE match. It shows this on the main web page but nowhere else on that site mentions anything about monthly matches. Yegua Airgun club (Somerville) does not even keep their website current, you have to go to the AAFTA website to see their schedule. I guess they don't want anyone (Newbies) to come and bother them.

How far is spring from magnolia? Is there any range nearby. If could get a few more people in that area then maybe a local range would consider having a match there. That is the purpose of this string is to get people together in different areas and start some matches. It is hard to get matches started if you do not know of other people in your area . I could drive to spring or magnolia if you guys could get a match going. It just seems like benchrest would be cheaper startup because paper targets are cheaper than steel targets. Once enough people start shooting airguns then could maybe get enough money for steel targets. gotta get to work so have a nice day, Don

I believe Spring to Magnolia is about anywhere from twenty to thirty something miles.  I'd be up to some king of shoot.  Just let me know.  And yes, there is two ranges close by.  One indoor, and one outdoor.  Let's get together.
