Thanks. Post a picture if you build one. Always fun to see what people come up with. One time I did miss and shoot my Chrono. Luckily, it made a full recovery.

Here's an update on this. It's still working. I've replaced a couple of the ir led's on top awhile back. They burnt out. The voltage was too high. But it was fun! I'm running 1.5 volts on the new ones.

Nice idea !
I once also chronied my gun with a microphone and audacity but never have had the idea to measure with photosensors and audacity.
I measured the path from my shooting position/muzzle end to the target. Then I placed the microphone exact in the middle of that path to compensate errors due to the relatively slow speed of sound. Then in audacity I looked for the two highest spikes which I suspected to be the pellet leaving the muzzle, and the second, the pellet hitting the target.
Since I did this measurement inside a long hallway I had a lot of echo happening what makes it even harder to find the presumably right spikes in the audio file.
With photosensors it should be much easier and more precise, even though a bit more work to do.
