A couple of classics found!

Did good on my scrounging today. I found two more classics for my collection.
A Daisy 717 .177 target pistol and an old Healthways Plainsman BB pistol.
I've had my eye on the Daisy for several months at a pawn shop. It was very dirty. It was covered with a corrosion like you get on the terminals of your cars battery. Bad looking stuff. When I looked at it this morning the pawn shop fella offered it to me at a price that I could gamble on. When I got it home I cleaned it up with mild soap solution and an ol tooth brush. A few drops of Crosmans Pellgunoil and I was ready to try it out. Shoots fine. The trigger is crisp but stout. I read it'll lighten up a bit after shooting it a bit.
On the way home I stopped off at the gun show and found the Healthways Plainsman. It is really clean and in nice shape. The gent I got from said he hadn't shot it since the 70's because you can find the 8 gram CO2 cartridges for it. I took another gamble at $20. Didn't have to clean it up. I took the left grip up and cleaned cartridge socket up and lubed it with Pellgunoil too. I inserted an 8 gram cartridge in it. I had a barely perceptable leak for about a minute and then it stopped. I shot about 50 BBs through it and let is set for a couple of hours and then shot it some more until I exausted the bulb. I loaded it up again and this time the cartridge sealed up right now. This is a fun little pistol to play with
.
Nothing like finding a couple of airguns on a nice day.

Nice finds. I made the Fort Worth gun show a few days ago. Not much in the way of air guns. One guy had an overpriced 397. I picked up a few small round, half round and diamond files and a couple of pairs of wool socks on the cheap. Had some greasy jerky and a diet coke for lunch. Fun times.

Congrats on a great find. I've herd great things about those 717's and that plainsman is just cool.

Thanks for all your comments and replies, much appreciated. I'm always out scrounging for AG's and it really helps my education on them. Once I find one the first thing I do is get on the web and start reading up on the history and reviews on my finds. It seems like I found a couple of good ones this time. Both of them have a lot of praise.
When I 1st started shooting the 717 the trigger pull was very stout. Now that I've got a couple of hundred pellets through it the trigger pull is getting much better. What I like about it is that there is no backlash. Once the sear shoots, there is no more trigger travel. Excellent accuracy and very very quiet. Nice for shooting indoors.....and out for that matters.
The Plainsman is still holding pressure fine on the 2nd cartridge. I think at this point it would retain pressure indeffinately. The pistol has 3 pressure ranges that is easily adjusted with a coin. That's cool, I wish more AG had mulitple pressure settings.
