I have not really used it yet, but just wanted to gloat a little
.
It is a Simmons LRF 600, purchased on sale from Big5 sporting goods.
I did try it out on my known/measured 50yd shooting lane, (shooting bench to block wall), and it read that accurately.
I then targeted it on a Italian Cypress tree/bush that is just past the block wall by only 12"-18",... but the range finder said it was 52 yds.
Hmmm,.... only 1' further than the wall,... but it reads as 6' more
I have never used any kind of Range Finder before this, and do not know the various factors that can affect it's accuracy.
any knowledge that you care to pass along will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

You may want to try solid objects, boxes or walls and buildings. I've never used a LR, but seems to me, IMHO a solid target would yield a more accurate result. You may also check the tolerance allowed on accuracy, say plus or minus error tolerances in feet or yards for displayed results. A tree with leaves and branches may confuse the LR and give an average result!
