Scope Suggestions?

The scope that came with my Quest wasn't very good and it's an ABSOLUTE PAIN IN THE ^&* to sight in.
Any scope suggestions? I'm hopeless beyond 20 yards with open sights.

Pretty much on most of my guns I have the CenterPoint 3-9x40 Adventure class, a relatively cheap scope, but has done everything I asked them to do and never had a problem with any of them

I agree with the Centerpoint 3-9X40. Mine has been good so far on my XL1500.
Also the Center Point 4-16X40 is 69.95 at Wally World. They get pretty good reviews around here. Also, if you have a problem with it, Walmarts exchange/return policy is very good. The centerpoints come with Weaver base rings so youd have to find other rings.

get a leapers 3x9x32AO. its 35 shipped at opticsplanet.com and it would be perfect for that gun. no need to go crazy spending 70 bucks and im sure thats real near the cost of the gun itself. with the lower end guns like that(im not putting you down, either) i wouldnt pay more than half the cost of the rifle. and you can get a great scope with alot less money than the wally scope. go check out optics planet. anything 30 and over is free ups and they ship fast

I have two Centerpoints, the 3-9x40mm and the 4-16x40mm, and they are outstanding scopes.
I like the 4-16 a bit better, not so much for the magnification, but because its turrets can be adjusted and locked down without requiring an Allen wrench the way the other does.
The 4-16 also has red/green illumination if you want to be able to see your reticle at dusk or dawn.
As PA1911 points out, the 4-16 can be had for $70 at Wal-Mart and comes with Weaver rings, which might be useful if you intend to put on the UTG 11mm to Weaver adapter rail, which can be bought for just over $7 plus shipping at Amazon.com.

Yeah, but you still have to lock the turrets with an allen in the 4-16 too, and the 3-9 have green & red illuminatrd reticals too.
agree I have the 4-16x40 on the Rainstorm and it's better than the 3-9s

Another consideration would be one of the centerpoint, utg or leapers scopes with the parallax pre set at 35 yards. This eliminates the need for the AO feature, and if there is a parallax shift between my 10yrd shots at 3x or my 30 yrd shots at 9x i can't tell. After using a non AO scope adjusted for close distance shooting, i'm not sure if i'll ever buy another AO scope again.. Jeff

Hey tom, no i didn't adjust it but rather bought a utg 3x9x40 with the parallax already preset at 35 yards. I got it at pyramid for $47.00. It's a fantastic scope. Doesn't seem to have the "blackout" issues that plague AO scopes, better, more forgiving eye relief, cheaper, lighter, shorter, clear as the keys offshore on a quiet summer day.
Best of all, no darned AO to turn. Only way i'd see ever using an AO scope again would be for lots of 20 yard or less shots. Then a bugbuster or similar with 10' focusable AO would be in order.
I've seen how you can adjust them yourself using online instructions but have never tried it.
I just received a 6x42 fixed power, 35 yrd parallax Bariska scope as well but it's readily apparent the UTG scope is much better quality. J

It came on the marauder i just received but yep, that the one, about 25-30 bucks. Seems to work fine but the turrets look cheap, kinda like your old hawke, it's not clear around the outline of the glass and it's got that bleepin peel off sticker holding back the nitrogen charge, why in the world cant they thread that port for a screw like leapers does and charge another buck fifty for doing so...
on the other hand i read reveiws of them and most people really liked them, they seemed to hold up well on springers too.. for 30 bucks it seems a decent deal. I REALLY like the size of the scope, a foot long, very light, 6x and 42mm seems like the perfect size for a hunting scope... got a weird blue tint to everything you look at it with but i can deal with that.. guess i can honestly say it's the best $30 scope on the market... and maybe the only one. Thinking of this for my Steroid or Silver Streak.

Have a set of Sheridan intermounts that seem to stay put. Didnt get the dovetail option wish I had now.

I replaced the Gamo 3-9 X 40 that came with my Whisper with a CenterPoint 4-16 X 40 AO. The Gamo worked fine and zeroed in at 5 meters After 5 shots, but I wanted the AO and the mildly reticle. I never used a scope before getting the Whisper three weeks ago, so I don't have anything to compare them to, but I really
Like the CP for $70 from Walmart.

I just got a Leapers 3-9x40 full size tactical with the parallax set at 35 yds. It's a mildot and I like it a lot. It's a non AO, and I like that since I don't normally shoot past 75 yds...I got it at opticsplanet.com
It was $49.97 ...don't know how much ya wanna spend...but...
